The Gospel book written by John is by far the most recommended as a starting point.

 

I would suggest you start there and continue to read until you get to Revelations. Do read Psalms and Proverbs as you read through the New Testament. Psalms and Proverbs are beautiful books, full of comfort and wisdom.
