1 John 2:27 says "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. "
It's clear to me that Jesus abiding in us is The Holy Spirit. But what does it mean to abide in Him?

Abide to me has always meant live in.
John 15:4- Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in me.
I think it's what Galatians 5:16 describes as walking in the Spirit:
"I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."
The words "Walk in the Spirit" make me think of moment by moment submitting my will to His will.
To do this, it would seem I must:
1. know His will (know His word)
2. acknowledge His will as better than my own, even when I don't understand (trust Him)
God bless your walk with Him
If you add all three previous comments (Carla, Watchman , and Jenny) together you get a pretty full picture of what abide means. The "Strong Greek Dictionary" says the following regarding the Greek word translated as "abide" in John 15:4 and other place:
G3306
μένω
menō
men'-o
A primary verb; to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy): - abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry (for), X thine own.
Total KJV occurrences: 120
So, for me to attempt to put it in as few as word as possible I would say:
"To live in Jesus and to live because of life of Jesus." The vine illustrated in John 15 teaches us that we must be connected to the life giving source (Jesus) and that because we are connected we will bear fruit.
Lord Bless,
