The great thing about a menu is that you read through it and pick and choose what you want to order. Just because something is on the menu it doesn’t mean you have to order it; you can pick and choose what you want. A recipe on the other hand, is something that must be read carefully and followed to the letter. If you leave something out of that recipe then what you are making just won’t taste like it was intended too. The finished product wont be exactly what the creator of the dish intended and you can’t blame the creator if doesn’t come out right if you didn’t follow their instruction.


Many people today are treating the Bible as a menu instead of a recipe. They simply browse through the Bible picking and choosing what they want to believe and ignore the things they don’t wish to. The problem is that the Bible is more like a recipe than it is a menu. We must read it carefully and apply all its contents to our life if we wish to turn out as the creator intended us too. Just like you can’t blame the creator of a dish if it tastes bad because you didn’t follow the recipe; you can’t blame God if you life doesn’t turn out just as it should have.


If we set our hearts towards following God’s recipe for life (the Bible) then we know exactly how our lives will end; it will end an eternity spent in paradise with God. Choosing not to follow the recipe only leads to uncertainty and chaos in your future. Put down the menu and start reading the recipe.
