Isaiah 8:12-13 "Do not call conspiracy all that this people call conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But the Lord of hosts him you shall regard as holy; let him be your fear and let him be your dread.
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." -Philippians 4:8
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
Psalm 139:13-18
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous - how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
Zephaniah 3:17 states, "The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."
The Full Armor of God. . . A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. Use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared. In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
[The Word Became Flesh] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

January 19 - From Messes to Miracles
Body: "A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
"
(Proverbs 18:7)
We have what we say. As believers, we know that's a vital biblical truth. We can see it in Mark 11:23, Matthew 21:21, James 3:2, and many other verses. Yet we often let it slip.
We allow ourselves to begin talking like the world instead of talking the Word. And eventually we get what we've been asking for--a big… Continue
Jan 19 - Our Only Hope is Jesus
Body: "Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
"
(Acts 2:26-27)
Twenty-one years ago, God said something to me that will mark my ministry forever. The only hope that any man has anywhere in the world is faith in Jesus Christ.

Love and Punishment By Jim Liebelt
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:21
I read an illustration of a small boy who was always late coming home from school. His parents warned him that he would face punishment if he came home late again. The next day, the boy came home late. When dinnertime arrived, the boy came to the table and looked at his plate. Upon the plate was nothing but a piece of bread. In his glass, only water. He looked at his parent’s dinner plates and noticed that they were full of food, their glasses full of milk. The boy was stunned.
Then, without so much as a word about his son’s behavior, the father switched his own plate and glass with his son’s. As he began to eat the piece of bread, he smiled at his son. Later in life the son recalled that it was on that day as a boy when he learned what God was really like.
This story provides us with a simple picture of God’s love for us. The father in the story, who did not do anything wrong, out of love took upon himself his son’s punishment. The Scriptures provide us with the same message of God’s love for us—that through Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection, He who was sinless took upon Himself the guilt and punishment of our sins. What a gift that God’s grace is always greater than our sin!
If you have responded to God’s love through placing your faith in Christ, you are set free from the punishment of sin.
Today, in everything you do, let your life reflect your gratitude for God’s love.

There is no lesson for today. You have permission to stop thinking for a moment and just enjoy yourself. Stop looking at your computer right now and go look at the world. Rediscover the natural wonders that you walk past every day. How can there possibly be that many shades of green? Let your mind be grateful for a break. Don't think, don't strain. Let the memories of loved ones remind you of your favorite times. Close your eyes and try to smell the sunshine. Listen to your heart beat in your ears. If it's raining, smile at the thought of the flowers that will soon follow. If you're surrounded by buildings, celebrate the creative genius of human beings. See the hope, the alarm, the love, the grief in faces that stream by. Thank the Lord for the chance to even be here. For a moment today, don't worry about being better. Just be.
If a person doesn't know Jesus as their Savior all the thanking in the world won't help. If they don't know their own Lord, how can they "just be"?
I like this and hope you do too. It's good to just stop even for a few minutes and look out at the wonder of creation. You could look at your own children just like I could look at mine and be amazed that God created each and everyone of your kids and mine. With lots of love, Darlene xoxoxoxo

How Close is God?
By Jim Burns
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; Do not be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 31:8
How close is God? God is closer than your breath and closer than your skin. Philippians 4:5 tells us to never forget the nearness of your God. How much does he care for you? Scripture reminds us:
He knows our names (John 10:3).
He numbers the hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30).
He counts the steps of our feet (Job 14:16).
He bottles the tears from our eyes (Psalm 56:8, RSV).
He holds our right hand in His hand (Psalm 73:23).
He supplies all our needs (Philippians 4:19).
GOING DEEPER:
1. Memorize Deuteronomy 31:8.
2. List five struggles in your life and then write out how today's devotional applies to each.

Psalm 116:5-7,12-14
