All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

One of my kids told me he hates God today, well he told the class, just blurted it out while we were reciting our memory verse "Hosana, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord" If I've learned one thing from my kids, it simply that they don't speak idle words, there's always some reason albeit twisted reasoning, but there is always some reasoning behind their words. After class, I asked him to talk to me for two seconds, his reason for hating God: "Because He died, I hate people who die" He'd asked me earlier if my father was dead, because I mentioned my mother and not my father to them, I said no. So in our conversation I asked him if someone who he love passed, he covered his face with both hands and said "no." I did not believe him but accepted his answer

I explained to him that our God did not stay dead, that He is indeed risen, I asked him if he believed me, he shook his head "yes" I told him that when we die, we go to heaven to be with our LORD, I told him we will all rise again one day. I don't know how much he understood of it, I don't know how much he is able to understand. I don't know if he truly believed me , how do you explain substitutionary atonement to a 5 year old?

It does not bother me much that he hates God, even if there was solid reasoning behind it. My prayer/my fear is simply that God loves him and loves him enough to open his eyes, be it now, be it 10/15/20/40 years from now, may his eyes be opened before he dies.

LORD, open his eyes so he may love You, and love You specially because You died.
