Some people say that when we sin, we crucify our Lord all over again. I don't know how much truth there is to that, but I do wonder how Christ feels when we fail Him in the simplest things. The little vices, those that are simply a matter of making up our minds that we will not compromise. Those things where we simply have to say "My God is bigger than that, He is worth much more"
Sure grace increased where sins increased, sure we can always rely on the Father's love and mercy and His forgiveness, these things are constant. A friend text me "Our GOD is not a shifting shadow" (ref James 1:17)
It has become one of my favorite verses/quotes. God is going to be God regardless, He is going to love us regardless, He's going to be compassionate towards us regardless, because His goodness towards us has has less to do with us and more to do with Him. It’s simply for His sovereign purpose, by His sovereign will that He does these things. God will be God.
But who will we be? we could be those who "abuse grace", who constantly offer up the same pathetic confession or we could be those who make up our minds and live out our commitments, today I chose the former and as I am getting ready to offer up yet another pathetic confession it hurts to know that He cannot count on me to be truthful even when there are no consequences.
Long to be glorified,
