Blog Numero Douze: My Condolences

I'm looking over a bill for one of our deceased. The man from the funeral home called several times, "is there someone? anyone?" he asked each time. There is no one. The funerals will be tomorrow, no one will attend, There is no family, no friend, there is a court-appointed guardian who could not return my calls three months ago, she didn't seem to care much. Noone cares, here and there, someone said some nice things, "oh he was nice" "i can't believe he's dead" but not much more, life will go on, we won't skip a beat, there are thousands if not millions of him out there.
The funerals will be opened to the public, there will be no public, just a body.

One has to wonder was ever his life meaningful, did he not touch someone in a special way? did he not love, was he not loved? why is there no one? there has to be someone, just one person.

I do not pray for the dead, but I hope on the other side of eternity the One is waiting to welcome him.
