bible as a manual in dealing with the devil

Yesterday was Sunday and I thought: "I don't really need to go to church . . . I'll just 'keep the Sabboth' at home." Then I remembered that so many places in the New Testament talk about us Christians as being the church, and the church-this-and-that. I think that whenever I have a thought that seems not quite to be in accord with my Christ-mind, maybe I should consider if that thought was influenced by the 'powers in the air'. So, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I went to church afterall.… Continue

Nothing of major value other than troubles with technical issues

I am having trouble keeping my photo on my profile. I can load the picture in, click on done and save but the next time I log on, the photo is gone. I just tried it again and the photo was there, noticed my birth date was gone so went in to fix that, after I saved that change, the photo was gone again. This has happened several times. Not that my photo is of anything of greatness but it would be nice to have it stay until a better one comes along, which could be awhile. Ha!! Thank you for any… Continue

God, I am not able . . . Christ is Lord

With respect to the broken relationship between my daughter and myself, I found some words that spoke to my soul this morning. It is from: The Unchained Soul by Calvin Miller. Here it is:"Two sentences must remain forever linked: God, I am not able; and Christ is Lord. How often I have seen these sentences of our insufficiency and his all-sufficiency follow hard upon the other." I confess that this is TRUE and Christ is Lord, the great Healer of all that is broken. I'll let the Lord fix this…

let go and let God

Hello, my Christian friends, out there - that I have yet to meet. This is a time of great adversity for me. I am really 'stuck' in self-absorption and fear. My daughter has unforgiveness in her heart to the point that she doesn't want me to see my 4.5 year old grandson. What is most comforting at this time is that I join in compassion for all the mothers and grandmothers who have seemingly lost a reciprocal love connection with the people we love the most. My balm is to 'let go and let God'.

South Africa

Although I have never lived outside of the African continent I am excited that the Lord has chosen me to live and take part in this exciting time in our countries history. There has been a lot of negative publicity on crime etc. in this country but the Lord has mighty plans for South Africa and I believe we will be the shining light to the rest of Africa.

South Africa is the only African country to have a transition from a white to a majority government without a civil war. Although…

New in the Community

Hello, I am new to this community, not new as a Christian but believe I have a lot of room to grow in my faith as I continue to seek Him and find His will for me in my life. As I slowly creep along these pages, I will become familiar with everything so I hope you all will have patience with me. I finally figured out how to put my picture on my profile, had to do a lot of searching around before I realized the instructions were practically under my nose! I promise to update with a better photo… Continue

Five (5) lessons about the way we treat people.

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:

'What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?'

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper,…

The Net

At dawn the disciples saw Jesus standing on the beach, but they couldn't see who he was. He called out, "Friends, have you caught any fish?"

"No," they replied.

Then he said, "Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get plenty of fish!" So they did, and they couldn't draw in the net because there were so many fish in it.

The Blessing Of Thorns

Sandra felt as low as the heels of her shoes as she pushed against a November gust and the florist shop door. Her life had been easy, like a spring breeze. Then in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a minor automobile accident stole her ease.

During this Thanksgiving week she would have delivered a son.She grieved over her loss. As if that weren't enough, her husband's company threatened a transfer. Then her sister, whose annual holiday…

Cherokee Legend

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone.

He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it.He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.He cannot tell the other boys of this experience because each lad must come into…

Where are we in here?

Scriptural Readings: John 8:3-11,15

As Christians our spiritual status is of utmost importance. In our Christian life our faith should not be hanging on a thin line. It should be anchored on a strong foundation. Our faith plays one of the biggest part in our spiritual life. Once we compromise it we let and give the enemy a foothold on us.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22-27

Jas 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Jas 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. Jas 1:24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.Jas 1:25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and…

In recognition of humility. (take-off from James 3.13-16)

Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.1 True humility comes from a place of strength and inner security. Genuinely humble people who have a desire to seek the well-being of others are generally very secure people. They are fully aware of their gifts, their training, their experience, and all the attributes that make them successful at whatever they do. That secur

THE TEMPTATIONS OF A SANCTIFIED MAN - S.L. BRENGLE

THE TEMPTATIONS OF A SANCTIFIED MAN

How can a man that is "dead to sin" be "tempted?" asked an earnest but unsanctified Christian of me some time ago. "If the very tendencies and inclinations to sin be destroyed, what is there in the man to respond to a solicitation to evil?

This is a question which every man will ask sooner or later, and when God showed me the answer, it threw great light on my pathway and helped me to defeat Satan in many a pitched battle.

Diligently Seek Him

Diligently Seek Him

by Lahry Sibley, Sr.

John 17:17 Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.(Amplified Bible)

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. (Amplified… Continue
