Listening & Faith on the Amazing Journey

Recently, I have been studying and writing about Jesus and the journey he leads us on. As I go, he is giving me object lessons in my own life.

It's amazing how you can forget the simple things, at times. I find myself in the middle of a project he has assigned to me - writing about how Jesus makes disciples.

I'm at a point where Jesus teaches his followers to Listen attentively to God; and I find myself struggling to be a good listener. So, I had been asking the Lord to show me…

wonderfully and fearfully created

I got a cut on my hand the other day, after a few minutes the bleeding stopped and a scab formed. Got me thinking about blood clotting. Did you know that blood clotting is a seven step process, if it misses a step, you would continue bleeding out? I guess my question regarding evolution is; before the seven step process "evolved", how did any living creature, man or animal survive a cut? Just a thought...

Keep a Sharp Sword

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.

— Hebrews 4:12

Temptation is definitely going to come your way and mine. When we know the Word of God, we can deflect the blows that come against us and strike out offensively.

For example, the devil will come to us when we have sinned and say, "You failed. There is no forgiveness for you."

So we pull our sword out of its sheath and say, "It is written…

We are saved by Grace

Romans 4 gives an excellent account of how we are saved. Not by works but by faith and it traces that relationship to Justification back to Abraham.

"Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered;

I have found this passage to have special meaning. We are so loved that we are forgiven in advance for our sins. That in fact is the the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as he took the…

Just wanna brag on the Lord a little...my family has been having M*A*J*O*R financial problems since August of this year. My dear husband has been killing himself working for a temp service, crappy jobs, crappy hours, crappy pay. So the other day, I was praying, and I asked God if He could maybe make things just a LITTLE bit better...that same afternoon, my hubby's nephew came by and said they needed to go do my hubby's paperwork because he would be starting his NEW JOB (good job, good… Continue

Do you believe it? You should because it is true.

New Years Resolutions (Radio Bible Class)

In 1722, Jonathan Edwards drew up a list of 70 resolutions, dedicating himself to live in harmony with God and others. The following resolutions give a picture of the serious purpose with which Edwards approached his relationship with God. He resolved:

• To do whatever is most to God’s glory.

• To do my duty, for the good of mankind in general.

• Never to do anything, which I should be…

New, New, New, New, New, .....

Happy NEW Year, everyone! I'm starting the NEW year, by visiting my NEW grandson (not yet 3 months old), taking some NEW medication that I hope will help my depression, starting a NEW Bible study (I Corinthians on DVD by Berachah Church - they send these out free folks), and continuing my NEW expression (novels) of an old love (writing). I have no NEW resolutions, just the same old ones that ignore most of the time. Our NEW semester of homeschooling begins in a couple of weeks and I'm excited… Continue

Blessed by the Unexpected

A week or so ago, my friend said she needed to make room in her office and did I want some of the old Christian books that she wanted to give away. She asked me this not only because I love to read, but also because I belong to two book swap groups (www.bookmooch.com and www.frugalreader.com) and I can post them there when I'm done with them.

My son had to run down to her house for a few minutes and I asked him to get the books for me - thinking there would be a few - at the most,… Continue

Sideswiped by the Unexpected

I have a dear friend, the one I've written about before. Her name is Crystal and she is like a sister to me (I think! I've never had a sister until she came along). We've known each other 20 years - before husbands, before most of our children, before college degrees, before many life-change events in our lives. We have similar belief systems and values although our personalities are quite different.

A couple of days ago we had a falling out. She and I have had our disagreements over… Continue
