Out with the Old, In with the New
Brent Barnett
Luke 5:36-39 says, "And He was also telling them a parable: 'No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one, after…

Continuing on from the last blog, and looking at James 3:1, where it says: "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment."
What does James mean about that stricker judgment? And why is it more severe for teachers? Could seem a bit unfair!?
Anyhow, I've been doing a bit of study, but I'm not finished yet. But here are the bare bones of what I've found. I thought you might like to look at it for your study. So, here it…

From My Perspective - - -
The Feature Headline in the Drudge Report for Monday, January 19th is: “Anything Possible”! In a Pre-Inaugural speech, The MY-WAY Report states: “Two days from the White House, President-elect Barack Obama joined a vast throng Sunday at a joyous pre-inauguration celebration staged among marble monuments to past heroes. Anything is possible in America, declared the man who will confront economic crisis and two wars when he takes office. Despite the… Continue

January 18 - Get Yourself Together
Body: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"
(Amos 3:3)
When it comes to faith, a lot of believers feel like they have one foot nailed to the ground. No matter how hard they try, they just can't seem to make any progress.
If you'll watch them, you can see why. They literally haven't "gotten themselves together." One minute they'll be telling you, "Oh yes, amen, I believe the Word," and the next minute they'll be…

A friend and I have been doing a study on James via email. It's been quite an adventure!! I must share some insights from chapters 1 and 2 sometime. Things like counting it all joy when trouble comes... and not being double-minded ... and faith without works is dead... etc.
Anyhow, that will have to wait, because now we're up to another sticky topic in chapter 3. The first verse certainly made me take a step back. Here's James 3, verses 1…

Body: "Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean. But Naaman was angry.
"
(2 Kings 5:10-11)
So often we miss out on what God wants to do for us because He doesn't do it the way we think He should. We work up an idea in our minds about how He's going to heal us, for instance. We think He's going to send some famous preacher to lay hands on us or that He's going to knock us off our feet…

Uncertainty took me down a path I did not want to go. I became sinfully involved with a man I thought I loved so very much. The feeling of conviction was very strong at times, but I continued to justify my actions in my thoughts. I told myself things like, "We love each other, and I plan to spend my whole life with him; therefore, God should understand." In time, the excuse just wasn't enough to contend my spirit and I had to get out of the relationship. When I did leave the man, I drew very…

Billy Graham was returning
to Charlotte after a speaking engagement and when his Plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home..
As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped and spoke to the driver.
'You know' he said, 'I am 87 years old and I have never
driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?'
The driver said,
'No problem. Have at it.'
Billy gets into the…

Why God Created Women
When I created the heavens and the earth, I spoke them into being. When I created man, I formed him and breathed life into his nostrils. But you, woman, I fashioned after I breathed the breath of life into man because your nostrils are too delicate.
I allowed a deep sleep to come over him so I could patiently and perfectly fashion you. Man was put to sleep so that he could not interfere with the…

January 16 - Jesus Can Set Them Free
Body: "And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
"
(Matthew 10:7-8)
There are those who've said that some of the diseases that are on the rampage right now, diseases such as AIDS, are God's way of punishing immoral people today.
There is absolutely no scriptural basis for that!
God does not…

Generalization is a tool in expression that allows one to either overstate or underestimate what is or is not factual. Next week will be observed as National Right To Life Week. An example is this statement appearing on www.OneNewsNow.com: “Less than 10% believe abortion should be legal, unfettered…A nationwide survey commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops underscores the public view of abortion. The poll involved a cross-section of… Continue

Why are so many Christians so calloused? I am never suggesting compromising on biblical truths (indeed, Jesus on occasion spoke sharply to his disciples and others) , but aren't we all brothers and sisters in Christ? and if someone isn't yet a follower of Jesus that is even more reason to show them God's mercy by being merciful to them. Not to mention that so many people are stuck in their own interpretations of the bible that they are closed to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit and to growing…

1 Samuel 4:21-22 21And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. 22And she said, the glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken. (KJV)
This was a sad day for the nation of Israel. The ark represented the presence of God in their midst. It was the focal point of His being with them in authority, government, power and glory. Unfortunately because of the sins…

ONE SHALL BE TAKEN
In Jer 33:1-3 we read: "Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying: Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it: the Lord is His name; Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
The wonderful thing about God is that He has so much for us that we have never seen yet. Some…

On the day after Christmas of 2008 I was in my office working on teachings for the prophetic for my web site concerning the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As I completed the work I was meditating on the wonderful gift of God. I was thinking of how that the Spirit of God in the Greek is “pneuma” which means “breath” The Spirit of God is the breath of God. God is an eternal being and He continues to breathe His Spirit of life into our lives on a daily basis. To be baptized in the Spirit of God is a…

“They contemn the counsel of the Most High.”
Contemn; To slight; to neglect as unworthy of regard; to reject with disdain.
To despise; to consider and treat as mean and despicable; to scorn.
The evil men, of this world, despise the Lord for His word, and His laws. We see many that have a profound hatred of anything that has to do with the Lord, or those that believe on the name of His Son Jesus. Even in this up coming inauguration of…
