5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.[a] Proverbs 3:5-6
May God grant you favor, joy and peace in your life. Be still with God and share with him daily your dreams and life. He loves you as a bridegroom loves his bride. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Fear has its place; if we didn't fear danger, our lives would be in constant upheaval. We teach our children, at a young age, to fear the stove as it is hot, and to look both ways before crossing a street as we could be hit by a car. Police men and soldiers knows that even a moment of inattention can be dangerous. The Bible says "A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished." ~Proverbs 22:3~
We shouldn't just fear physical danger, however, we should be on guard against moral and spiritual danger. 1 Peter 5:8 says: " Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
Fear has its place, but fear can also become overwhelming--and then it becomes sin. Why? Because fear causes us to doubt God's promises and disbelieve His Love. Fear can paralyze us and keep us from believing God and stepping out in Faith. The devil loves a fearful Christian!! God told the ancient Israelites that He would be with them and help them conquer the Promised Land. But fear seized them, and they refused to obey. As a result they were forced to wander for forty years. They allowed fear to paralyze them, and an entire generation missed God's blessing. This can happen to us.
Can we conquer our anxieties and fears? Or must we spend our lives consumed by worry?
For the Christian there can only be one answer: The opposite of fear is trust-- trust in God and His unchanging love. Once we realize God is in control and He holds us in our loving hands, we can meet life's dangers and uncertainties with confidence. After all, if we can trust God for our eternal salvation, we should be able to trust Him for our lives right now. The palmist declared, "The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" ~Psalm 118:6~
Let's be honest here….. It is hard to trust God when danger threatens or everything is collapsing down all around us. Fear comes much easier to us than faith. But never forget: FEAR CAN BANISH FAITH, BUT FAITH CAN BANISH FEAR. Faith is not pretending our problems do not exist, nor is it blind optimism. Faith points us beyond our problems to the hope we have in Christ. TRUE FAITH involves TRUST--trust in what Christ has done for us, and trust in God's goodness and mercy.
Lord, replace our insecurities, doubts, worries and fear with ever-increasing FAITH in your many promises… In Jesus Name we pray Amen…
"Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." ~Matthew 7:7~
