March-ing orders

Listen here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/23308d0f/march-ing-orders-luke-52I was an unlikely character in the urban scene of Long Beach, California. Drawn there because of the raw need of those who lived on the street ... those who needed more than food and shelter--they needed Jesus. One day, I had gone into the city park where so many of them slept at night, and was talking to a gang…See More

Does Jesus applaud dishonesty? What gives?!

Listen here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/38dfa2db/did-jesus-applaud-dishonesty-what-gives-luke-50The last Morning Briefing drew responses--'God would run to me, for me?' folks wanted to know. When God ran.

Listen here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/19de3a3b/the-day-god-ran-luke-49Crazy, violent weather is sweeping through many states, mine included. Through the window, I can see my American flag whipping in the wind, and rain splashing in puddles in the street, so it is a great day to write. And as I do, I am certain my subject matter could not be any more significant. We return to the scene…See More

Peculiar, but so beautiful!

Listen:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/24330e93/peculiar-but-so-beautiful-luke-48Find yourself in this story.Think about it - when someone sends you a group picture from an event you attended... what do you do? You look for your mug. 'How do I look in this picture? Is it a 'good' shot? (i.e. is it flattering?) Ha, ha we all do it. In fact, last Spring on my Footsteps of Paul…See More

Free, but costly - a contradiction in terms?

Listen:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/257c8d7d/free-but-costly-contradiction-in-terms-luke-47It was a Thursday morning. I had gotten the boys off to school and was doing some work around the house, when Dylan came back home. 'Hey, what are you doing home?''Well I'm probably going to be suspended," he said.'What in the world? What did you do?''Mom, you just have no…See More

Let's have dinner!

Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Meleck H-olam. . ."Blessed art Thou, O Lord, our God, King of the Universe, who bringeth forth the fruits of the vine." This is one of the prayers recited at a Jewish dinner table, which I experienced at a Shabbat dinner in Jerusalem in February, 2018. So very interesting - the kosher house... the rules, the warmth, the prayers, the Law. Tradition. Frankly, we goyim could learn a lot from these meals, particularly the time given to prayers and blessings and being…See More

What does Jesus want from us?

Listen along here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/d7b1f158/what-does-jesus-want-from-us-39-lukeWhat was important to Jesus-then and now?  I wonder what Jesus thought about each one of the disciples, because while we think of them as ‘the twelve’, Jesus called them individually – he knew them as distinct persons.  After all, he had knit each together in his mother’s womb,1 and…See More

Mysterious, and nothing short of remarkable

Listen along here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/23bae59d/mysterious-and-nothing-short-of-remarkable-38-lukeWhen I was a child, summer vacations took us to Clear Lake, which I dearly loved--boating, water skiing, fishing and fun. Is that when I fell in love with the water? Hmmm... well, until I moved to North Carolina, I lived very near the Pacific Ocean, even…See More

Jesus is rather shocking! Luke 36

Listen here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/2979d263/the-shocking-power-of-jesus-luke-36The shocking power of Jesus.Have you ever noticed that Jesus led a very full life?  There was nothing shy or retiring about our Lord.  In Luke 8, the historian captured several scenes and encounters of Jesus in the towns around the Galilee and on the Galilee herself, as Jesus taught, healed,…See More

Of Jesus, women and money. Luke 35

Listen along here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/40b6b1e6/of-jesus-women-and-money-luke-35Imagine you arrive at the dinner party a little late. As you enter the dining area, you see Jesus reclining at table with the others--in the middle-eastern style, legs sort of to the side, feet behind. Here's your answer. Luke 34

Listen here:  https://www.pastorwoman.net/podcast/episode/3d7d0bda/heres-the-answer-lucas-and-aakashThe looks on their faces, the question they asked still stops me in my tracks,"Please, could you just tell us about Jesus?"And then another day I asked a neighbor who had recently started attending our Bible study what she thought about it.
