Hi Tseko, I became a Christian in a non-christian family at 15 and have walked with the lord for 34 years. I really do not thing that the style of music matters as much as the lyrics.
Our brains are like computers and if we are always filling it with lyrics that are crude, violent, perverse, etc, then we will get ourselves into some trouble. God's Word must be your guide. the Holy Spirit is also in your heart if you have become a Christian.
He will talk to you in your heart and tell you how to live a like that pleases God. It is not about rules as much as it is about a relationship with God. Remember God is with you always and that awareness will also keep you out of trouble.
Welcome
Glad you joined our wonderful internet family, sharing the love of Christ, learning and growing in your spiritual life. And as a bonus making wonderful friends.

Hi Tseko, I am glad to hear from you. You wrote that you wanted to know and understand more about God. The word of God is His revelation about himself and His interaction with humanity. Jesus said that we could look at His life and teachings to come to understand God. This because Jesus was God in the flesh.
Jesus showed the world more about God, about His love, about how he wanted to help us find a restored relationship with God. He then was crucified to pay the debt of sin that we might find forgiveness, and this awesome restored relationship with God.
I encourage you to take a look in my blogs and locate how I came to know God when i was 15 years old after a life of abuse and neglect.
I just hope that you will pursue God and find all the answers to your questions. I will love to answer those questions you have. It is time for you to be a student of God, and as the Scripture says, "you will search for me and you will find me when you search for me with all your heart." ( Jeremiah 29:13 )
In the love of Jesus

WHAT'S A CHURCH?
A well-worn one-dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty-dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation. The twenty-dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the country.
"I've had a pretty good life," the twenty-dollar bill proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City , the finest restaurants in New York , performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean "
"Wow!" said the one-dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!"
"So tell me," says the twenty-dollar bill, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?"
The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the Methodist Church , the Baptist Church, the Lutheran Church."
The twenty-dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"
