Does that remain your view of God today beloved?
Da Ve, (my nickname for you)
I think of God as my *Dad*. I view Him as my *parent* who has my best interests at heart, able to say *no* when He needs to but usually saying *yes*. He's said *no* many times when I asked for something frivolous, but when it is something I need, the answer is usually *yes*.
When I lost my husband in December, He didn't say anything, but I knew He was with me through it all. Since Danny went home, He has comforted me through His Spirit, and has strengthened me when I had the urge to scream and throw things. He has comforted every time I start to feel sorrow. He gives me words to speak to others regarding Danny, and peace with his passing.
His is always with me, answering my questions (when I'm ready to hear the answers) and His timing is perfect. He gives me understanding of His Word as i can bear it.
I could continue but I don't think there is enough space at AAG to post everything God means to me.
Blessings to you,
Rita
1Samuel 2:8
8 He raises the poor from the dust“For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; on them he has set the world.
Matthew 11:28-29 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Luke 1:51-52 51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.
I view God as being a gentle , humble and loving God. Whose heart is for the needy, the poor, the lost, the lonely, the suffering, the sick, the persecuted, the prisoners, the homely. His love is greater than any human can imagine. He is strong yet gentle. He is the creator of all that is seen and unseen and he loves us even though we are only human. Because we are his creation. To learn how to view God we must follow and learn from his Son Jesus. God made into flesh because of God's love for us.
To become mature Christians we must "live" God's greatest commandments.
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
I agree with journeymanhd on the character of God. The most amazing thing is after all of my faults God still works with me. However I understand growth in Ro. 5:3-4 "...knowing that tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience, experience; experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost with is given unto us.
I grow in Christ by experiencing life. Making mistakes, and some good decisions as well. Learning that life is not fair but God is just. And most of all when I am weak He is strong.
Some of the old time preachers used to say, "practice the presence of God" That meant remember that God is with you everywhere, and sees everything that we go experience in life. And He is always just a prayers beath away from strengthing, encouraging, and protecting us.
