All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

As a christian, there are things in my life that i wish weren't there, i am dealing with this particular sin, it's like a struggle. It makes me feel really bad and depressed and even affects my prayer life sometimes. I am wondering if i will ever get to that point in my christian life where all those guilt inducing aspects of my life will cease to be. I am also wondering if anybody out there is going through the same thing and how they are dealing with it. Please share and keep me in your prayers.

Thank you guys for the discussion. This will help me move forward. I have this problem of dewlling on sin. I do need to remember that if I honestly ask for forgiveness that the sin is washed away and I am okay to move on; An move into the light away from sin.
i agree with you choco, the hardest thing is to admit what one has done and apologise and ask for forgiveness, i believe it is healthy to feel awkward about confessing sins as that to me means one recognises how bad the wrong is, therefore feel ashamed, if we didnt feel ashamed of our sins we would never be sorry, thats my theory anyway
God bless you all

This is an interesting question. 2 Corthians 12 7-10 talks about a thorn in the side i didnt list the verse here i want you to read them. When we become christians this doesnt mean hey all of our bad habits are gone this is not what life is about. God says he will never give us more then we can handle 1 Corthinians 10 v13 for reference. I am being lazy i wish for you to look these verses up.
I am sorry Brother, But I can’t find that analogy in this scripture with your statement.
Quote
“God says he will never give us more then we can handle”
1 Corthinians 10 v13 for reference. End quote.

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

You will notice Thomas, He said that no temptation hath taken you ; it does not say that God tempted or gave it to you. In fact in ; James 1:12-15 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

But I’m sure your reference would be on the word [suffer] Which according to Strong’s Cord. Means; to let be, i.e. permit or leave alone, commit, leave, let

And it is the same escape route that He gave Paul in 2Cor.12: Which is just as much misunderstood as 1Cor.10:13 and maybe even more so.

Likewise God did not give that thorn in the flesh to Paul any more than He tempted us in 1Cor.10:13 but He did give Paul a way to escape it. Through His Grace. It was sufficient for Paul and it is sufficient for any temptation that you or I might be tempted with.

It is the devil that does the tempting; not God.
This is a common belief among some denominations that believes that all the gifts of the Spirit left with the last apostle or disciple whoever that one was. It is the tradition of men that makes the Word of God of none effect. Mk.7:13
But you can rest assured that God does not temp us, nor can He be tempted with evil.

He is not making a way for us to escape , He has made a way for us to escape, and that is through His son Jesus Christ. Which is in you.
It is all in Christ. See according to Ephesians 3:19-20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
You have all the power you need to overcome in any situation you find yourself in: in this world, and it is through the Grace of God.
It s Christ in you, your hope of glory, Col.1:27

Be blessed,
Joe
Hi Wicus,
I completely understand. I have a reaccuring problem as well. I do fine for a week to ten days and then bam, I catch myself getting into sometihing that I believe clouds my connecton with God. Things are progressing along. What I need in any and all sin to come to a complete halt. I am an avid believer that reading the bible and praying everyday will turn things around for me. However, I find myself too busy to do daily readings. I have too much to read with my colllege work. Not to menting Work orders and paper work asscociated with my work(job) So, I am waiting for my Bible CD's that are suppose to come from All About God .com. I do not know how long they take to arrive. But, I feel like listening to them while driving to and from all the job sites I have to go to is a great time to put them in my cars cd player. I spend many hours on the road. But, I have not recieved my CD's. I think I will check with the Admin of this site and see what he can do to help. This is part of my plan anyhow.

I will put you into my prayers.

These two verses have been my favorite verses of the bible since becoming born again and the ones I most often quote. It amazes me how God can place so much beautiful truth in few words. It blows my mind the amount of teaching these two verses have. When I quote them I verily scratch the surface of them, but there is precious truth in them.

John 8:31-32 (New International Version)

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Who is speaking here?"Jesus said"The perfect one, the Alpha and Omega, the Holy one, the creator of heaven and earth, Our King, Lord and Savior. Wow!!!! The one that cannot lie.

1. If you hold to my word/teaching - condition

What does it make you?
2. you are really my disciples.

What will happened then?

you will know the truth. What truth? The truth about everything pertaining to God and Godliness.

And then what happens?

3. the truth will set you free.

Free from what? From everything that wants to keep you down and enslaved.

Break Free with the Word.
The Christian life is to be the best life any human can have on earth. Paul even with all the trials and tribulations would have not change a bit of it. Christianity is exciting, IT'S BEAUTIFUL. GOD MAKES US BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE (of course then there me, hahahaha a knuckle head, but don't be a knuckle head hehe).

To be in Christ, WoW nothing compares to it. We have not been left to our own wits; we have been given the Holy Spirit, the counselor, teacher etc...
Hi. It's nice to know there is someone out there who is struggling with somethings. I am struggling with a lot of things in my life. It's mostly caused by anxiety. I make really bad choices when feeling overwhelmed. Most of the days, I waste time playing online games. It is a big waste of time. During the day, I do this and then when evening comes, I think "what have I done?" And then I say, well tomorrow will be different, but mostly it's the same. I play the games because I want to solve something and in my life, it seems I can't figure things out. So I know what you mean when you say you are struggling. I will pray for you for strength. I also need a lot of prayer. I really need to get out of this rut.
I was Blessed with the CD's today. Now I can listen to the Word while in my car traveling between jobs sites.
Its a miracle I was just speaking about not having them and then after a terrible day and night...There they were in the mailbox.
God DOES work. GOD does listen, GOD does deliver.

I had the same trouble up untill last night at about 10:30.

I also have things in my past that I had trouble letting go of. I knew I was forgiven but I guess I didn't believe it.

Last night my son put his car in the ditch missing a pole by two feet. We went to pull it out and as you can imagine I wasn't happy and I let my son know it. We pulled the car out and was getting back in the car to go home.

My son said, "dad". I turned around and he gave me the hug of a lifetime. He cried and was shaking from the experience. I told him I loved him and at that moment I forgave him. I didn't say it, but I felt it.

When we got home we made light of it and went to bed.

I was laying in bed and started to mull the accident over and my sons reaction. I thought of the things I had done in my past and suddenly I had this thought.

I wasn't sure if it was a thought or a feeling or a voice, but it was loud and clear. The voice said,"It is that easy". It was then that I knew God had used that oppertunity to tell me this,

If I as a mortal man can forgive my son, how much easier is it for God to forgive me.

I no sooner had that thought when I felt my burdens lifted.

I now know and believe my sins have been forgiven. I can look forward to moving closer to God without looking back and somehow feel I'm not worthy.

It has taken a long time for me to feel this way, but God answered my prayers. Keep praying and seeking God. I promise he will speek to you as well.

God is great. Greater than any of us. Thanks be to God, and thankyou God for not giving upon me.

Take care

Gary

Before I gave my life to christ, there are so many things that I did that am not proud off, that I am dealing with too.  I pray to God every waking moment of my life for mercy and forgiveness.  I have those guilt trips and flash back moments too.  I  felt like giving up too until I came across a about prayerlessness.  Prayerlessness too is a sin (1 Samuel 12:23).

I pray for God's Grace for a prayerfull life and to keep and follow his laws but again you cannot achieve these without the power of the spirit something you need to pray for too. I also listen to various ministers most especially Benny Hinn and Joyce Meyer and read the bible and study some spiritual material/books (the books I get from Amazon)

Those guilt induced trips may be triggered by the devil so that you may stop praying, or to encourange you to repent to God and ask for forgiveness and mercy through prayer.  Do not underestimate the power of prayer.  Keep praying, read the scriptures that are related to your situation and pray them back to God.  Whenever you have those flash backs quote the scriptures loudly the devil will leave you alone remember, he came to kill steal and destroy (John 10:10).

I will share with you this website I listen to everyday, Pastor Benny Hinns teachings that are life changing (http://www.bennyhinnnetwork.com/

I promise to pray for you today, but please pray for me too.

God Bless!

PS Am new at this site

I am praying for you. The enemy challenges all of us and he knows exactly what our weaknesses are. However Mercy reigns over judgment and God's love over every challenge the enemy can present. Prayer through petition keep fighting. I need God's forgiveness with thoughts throughout the day it is a challenge but you can rise above with his help. Blessings, Phil
