Will the world truly end in 2012?

Hi Charlie,

Where do you think in scripture that it says in the bible that the world will end in 2012?  The bible is the ultimate authority, and as far as I know this is what it says in scripture:

Mar 13:31

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

Mar 13:32

"But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

Mar 13:33

"Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time [fn] will come.

(italics mine)

Charlie,

 

I have a question for you. Regardless of when the world will end, as no man knows the day our hour, what will you do with this day? James says the following:
JAS 4:13 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." 16 As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. 17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

 

And Matthew says:

MT 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

MT 6:28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

 

Again, we ought to ask ourselves, what will I do with this day?

So, as long as I accept Jesus as my Savior, I will go to heaven no matter what. And nobody really knows WHEN the world will end. Maybe it will be 10 years, or 100, even 1000!

Charlie,

 

It is correct that no one knows the day or the hour of the rapture or when the millennial kingdom will be established. The end of the world as you are describing will not take place until the end of the millennial reign and that will be followed up with the new heaven and new earth. Thus, "The End" does not mean cessation, but change.

 

Prior to the millennail reign theere will be a time of Great Tribulation, but again, that is not the end of the world.

Regarding the other part of your comment, what does accept Jesus as your Savior mean to you?
