Carla,

Max has a way of putting things. Some times he spends a lot of time painting one picture, but that is OK. Another author I appreciate, in fact he is my favorite pastor who writes books and is on radio and TV is David Jeremiah. I could easily sit under his teaching in his church.

I don't have time, or take time, for "leisure" reading, but fortunately I thouroughly enjoy learning and that is a type of leisure for me :-)

Now that is two of you telling me it is a girl thing. I just can't relate, I wonder why ... LOL

Phew I'm not the only one - you have just described me perfectly Carla:

I am like Linda Ruth in that I usually have many books going at once. I keep one in my purse for when I am out of the house...something to read when I am just sitting and doing nothing else while away from home. It's a girl thing.

Although I do read a book cover to cover....... I have learnt to speed read - handy indeed......

I rarely read for entertainment either - we are sooo alike here Carla and I do as you did last night - pull things off the shelf for comfort or whatever.....

It seems like a lot of people have been reading Max Lucado. I recently reread his book " No Wonder They Call Him Saviour ".

I just finished reading a book by W Phillip Keller entitled " Lessons Learned From A Sheep Dog." It is a small book but it really brings the concept of the ' working relationship ' between God and His servants (us ) into perspective.

Also , anything by Tozer is good to read. I recently reread his book entitled " When He Comes" . I am currently reading another of his book about the Holy Spirit but can't recall the name of it because it's at home and I am at the library.

Hey Amanda,

In the O.T. God clearly teaches that there is none righteous in of themselves and that we are sinful from the time of conception. The O.T. and N.T. are in agreement regarding man's condition and need.

Isaiah writes:

ISA 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

David writes:

PS 51:5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Jeremiah writes:

JER 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?

David writes:

PS 14:1 The fool says in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
PS 14:2 The LORD looks down from heaven
on the sons of men
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
PS 14:3 All have turned aside,
they have together become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.

Paul writes:

He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- 26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
