Joseph, he is excellent boy as a boy for his father, he is a dreamer, a good and faithful servant for Potiphar and for his house, God blessed him and prosper the works of his hand there, he say No for the invitation of the wife of Potiphar "Lie with me" in his young age, even he was thrown in to jail unfair he didn't argue, he kept his altitude positive, he was prospered even in jail, God raised him to be the ruler over Egypt, .... he forgive his brothers, knowing God was in control.
What make me to love him most is when ever he open his mouth to speak he said God, God had number one place in Joseph's life, the result? " God was with Joseph where ever he went. "
Very importantly i saw Jesus the Savor of the world in the charter of Joseph clearly.
May the Lord prosper. and promote you like Joseph.
Remain blessed.
Your sister.
From the New Testament my fav is Paul for reasons my beautiful sis Bev mentioned. An example of a well balance life of humbleness and God's authority flowing through his being.
3 We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. 2 Corinthians 6
Wow! What a beautiful heart of a servant.
From the Old Testament Daniel. What a beautiful example of an obedient life full of zeal, passion, holiness and uncompromised.
13 So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah? 14 I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom. 16 Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.” 17Then Daniel answered the king, “You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means. 18 “O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor. .22“But you his son,d O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this. 23 Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. 24Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription
What a beautiful man of God. Speaking boldly before a human king about the Everlasting King.
Jesus of course tops them all, but I do not know if He is included in the inquiry. :)
1) King David. He made so many mistakes, but yet he is 'the man after God's own heart'.. even his dying words were not pretty:
1Ki 2:8 "Behold, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera the Benjamite, of Bahurim; now it was he who cursed me with a [fn] violent curse on the day I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD, saying, 'I will not put you to death with the sword.'
1Ki 2:9 "Now therefore, do not let him go unpunished, for you are a wise man; and you will know what you ought to do to him, and you will bring his gray hair down to [fn] Sheol with blood."
1Ki 2:10 Then David slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David.
We know of the many mistakes David made during his life--Adultery, Murder...
This is the man after God's own heart...making his own son promise to get even with one of his enemies by committing murder--on his death bed. I would think that on one's death bed it would be a time of repentence...a time to cry out to God. This also shows his supreme confidence that David must have had in his Creator who would never let him go. David did not show any sort of remorse or repentence..instead he asked his son to murder an enemy.... he died with unforgiveness in his heart.
We are not perfect and we will never be perfect until we are with our Lord. We all make many mistakes.. I am learning that we are not to excuse our mistakes, but rather turn to God and trust Him in all circumstances in our lives. It doesn't matter how big we mess up.. God looks at our hearts, and He will never turn away from the heart that is turned toward Him.......we learn in the story of David, that it may not always be in action that we Glorify our Lord...but what is the cry of our heart. Hopefully the cry of our heart to Glorify the Lord will turn to action in the proper ways.
David did not have the Holy Spirit to help him continually as we do now. He only had brief times when the Holy Spirit came upon him....but now in this dispensation of Grace we have the Holy Spirit as our helper to strengthen us to make the right choices.. God offers us His Grace because He knows we will still make many mistakes, although this does not give us license to sin... Once again, I am thankful that God looks at our hearts, and He understands the battle with the flesh and in the Spiritual realm--the things we cannot see.
I love how honest scripture is, and the picture of humanity with all the mess of who we are, the things we do, and the decisions we make. I love how God steps into this wrecked existence and makes things right.
2) I also love Mary of Martha and Mary.. because she teaches me that to sit at the feet of Jesus and worship Him is the right thing to do above and beyond all of my 'works'. knowing this gives me the proper motivation for wanting to do things to serve my Lord..not because i have to, but because i love Him and I want others to know about Him...anyone who will listen.

LT,
I love every single one that has been mentioned. The one I refer to mostly is Paul. The one I named my son after, though, was Stephen. It would be difficult to find a character that more exemplified the life of Christ than this young man. It's interesting that as his life was being snuffed out, he saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. We know the normal position of Christ is to be seated at the right hand of God. As Stephen was being ushered into His wonderful presence, our Lord stood to welcome him. His death impacted the church like no other except, of course, our Lord Jesus.
The heroes of faith listed in Hebrew 11 are just that, heroes. We are so fortunate to know these characters.
With out a doubt it is David. Many things David did didn't seem to work out the way he planned or wanted them to. And sometimes David was just plain wrong. But David knew how to get back on track with God. He went to God simply admitting that he was wrong and that God was right. No self justification , just sincere repentance.
I can only pray that one God God will see me as ' a man after God's own heart'.
