Brothers and sisters, this is an up-to-date firestorm controversy that I need your help on. Glenn Beck was recently joined by several Evangelical well-respected leaders in a sort of Evangelical rally at the Mall this last weekend. I am pasting a tape of his apparent testimony and I'm sure you have already seen much of the coverage of the rally. Evangelical leaders are greatly divided over the issue of whether or not to support him in his effort to get a Spiritual revival started in America. I am asking for your advice in this matter.
Remember, Glenn Beck is a declared Mormon. Take a look at the video if I can get it on. If not I will past the link and ask someone to put it on. Thanks and God bless you.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Joshua 24:15
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
If you will notice in both of the preceding scriptures; it does not say “whom you will believe” however it does say whom ye will serve. So we do have a choice whether or not we serve Him, but a choice whether or not believe Him I don’t think we do.
I know I used to ask this question to pastors and others; “can you chose to believe in God“? And invariably they would say, sure look at Joshua 24, chose you this day whom you will serve, and I would say, yes, whom you will serve, not whom you believe.
So Roy I’m in agreement with you on, not having a choice whether or not to believe,You do in fact have a choice whether or not to serve.
However only a fool would choose not to serve Him.
I could not have chosen to serve or believe in Him without He first choosing me.
Remember the scripture in Matthew 11:27
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
And then in Matthew 16:16-18
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Jesus said in John 5:30, Niv. I think; it says “By my self I can do nothing, I judge only as I hear and my judgment is just because I seek not to please myself, but to please Him that sent me.
That is how He [Jesus]knew Peter.
See the Father revealed to Peter that Jesus was the Christ, and Jesus revealed to peter that it was the Father that revealed to him that He “Jesus“ was the Christ. And also the Father had to reveal to Jesus that He had told Peter who He was. Because He said, and I say also unto you that you are Peter, and up on this rock I will build my Church…. The Rock that He was talking about was, Christ. The Anointing or the anointed one. The same one [Christ] that we have in us. So it is the same with us today, If God does not reveal to us the savior Jesus Christ and our need of Him; we would never call up on Him.
In that sense it is by His grace, that divine influence upon our hearts, that we can come to Him.
I know you have seen this before but this is how we were.
Unconscious / Incompetent, we did not know what we did not know,
But then By God’s grace now we are Conscious / Incompetent, and after we begin to seek Him and study the Word; we become Conscious / Competent. And when we learn who we are in Him, becoming knowledgeable of Him and an associate with Him, then we become Unconscious / Competent.
This is the rest I believe we are seeking. Knowing that we are one with Him. Amen?
Hope we are not too far off the subject.
Joe

Brothers,
We are good. You could take all my knowledge and fit it into a thimble. The important thing is that something wonderful has taken place within us. God has wonderfully saved us. How He did it is not nearly as important as that He did it. I'm sorry that I had to leave the forum last night. I was ill.
I am going to continue to pray for Glen Beck. The man is smart enough to see the discrepancies between the Mormon faith and the Word of God. I am kind of believing that he is trying to figure out how to state his true convictions without offending his Mormon friends and wife. They have a lot at stake in the guy. It would be devastating to the Mormon community if he left their assembly. He is in a very tough situation. I prays he continues to read His Bible and comes to know Jesus as we do.

Roy,
I do believe that Glenn will [if he keeps reading about Jesus and who He really is] come to a realization of the true Jesus, because in 2Cor.3:18 it says Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
So; yes my prayers are also with and for Glenn and all those that are in the public eye and positions of authority, beginning with the President.
I think it is good that the media is reminding us all today about the events on 9-11, that we not forget what happened and keep us in prayer for our country: not to be taken over by this despot religion or organization that come to us in the guise of peace and harmony, thinking we can live in a divided society as if nothing happened,
The Word says that; And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Mk3:25
Luke 11:17
17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.
I wonder if this could apply to the U.S. House of Rep’s and Cong.?
We all need prayer!!!
Joe
I hope you are feeling better today. Yes! We are good, we are brothers even when we get on each other's nerves hahaha. You can probably fit all my knowledge in that same thimble as well, since our theology is so similar.
Blessings

LT,
These are some very good questions. I would have to say that I don't have absolutely the answers. I don't believe that you have to be absolutely theologically correct to be a Christian. Perhaps the question is: how far off can you be and still be a Christian? There are many on this site that think I am far off (actually, our disagreements I believe are minor) but probably still accept me as a fellow believer. On the other hand, Glenn Beck (if he agrees with his church and we have to assume that he does) is really far off from our understanding of the doctrine of Christ.
Just how far off can one be? I guess he would believe that Jesus is God today but what kind of god? How could He be God and not be eternally God? To me there is no question that Jesus is eternally God. I worship Him as I worship the Father. I believe He is the Great I Am. I believe He emptied Himself and came to this earth to cure me of the death blow of sin. I believe that in Him I am completely healed.
But, the question remains a good one. Just how far off can you be and still be saved? I don't know. That one is really tough.
Thanks.
Roy
Further, I also believe the confusion from the Mormon church is intentional.

I know this does not answer the question “ just how far off you can be and still be a Christian”
I like the story about the king looking for someone to drive his chariot over this dangerous passage through the mountains, [to make this short I will leave out parts of it.] So he ask all the drivers how close to the edge of the road in this one spot that was certain death if they went over the edge. And the one said “he didn‘t know just how close he could get to the edge, but he wanted to stay as far away and as close to the mountain as he could” And the king said you are the man I want.
So I don’t want to be sliding into heaven, just barely making it and having the umpire saying safe! I want to go in and hear Him say, “ Well done thou good and faithful servant”
However you know,
Matt. 11, Has been a real blessing to me for several reasons, but one that stands out more than others is, I see Him addressing the intellects or the intellectuals; those that can only believe when they can see the end results of a matter. Reasoning so to speak. Or they are trying to comprehend a situation by their own understanding. And the bible tells us not to lean unto our own understanding. Pr.3:5.
When we know every little thing surrounding a situation, as in this one with Beck, we will have attendances to base our judgments and or opinions on all the physical aspects and not so much on the spiritual.
We allow the physical; what we can see, feel, taste, smell or hear gain the ascendancy over the spiritual and blind us of the truth.
I am not a preacher, and Roy can attest to this, However if you will notice all the way through Matt.11 Jesus was asking them “what did you go out to see” a reed, a man dressed in white, or a prophet? They could only see in the physical realm .
So He was telling them that John was more than just a prophet, that they could see. But the one that was to go before Him to proclaim the coming of the Messiah. They could only see the physical. Though it had been prophesied before Him by the prophets and the law, yet He says that if ye can receive it; this was Elias that was to come. And He says that the least in the Kingdom of Haven is greater than he “John”
The Holy Spirit hadn’t come yet, so was John a New Creature “born again” as we are? Or a vessel used of God to bring about His purpose?
And He said “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
But then He says, “but where unto shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the market place and saying, we have piped unto you and you did not dance, we have mourned unto you and you have not lamented. For John came neither eating or drinking and you say he has a devil, but the Son of man comes eating and drinking, and you say He is a glutton and a wine bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners,
But Wisdom is justified of her Children.
This part used to confuse me until I learned that Wisdom is Sophia in the Grk. Meaning the insight into the true nature of things.
So the only ones that could see past the physical, was the Children of God. Or those that had eyes to see and ears to hear.
And this is somewhat the way I see this thing with Beck.
What fruit is being produced by his boldness over national media?
And not considering where he came from, but what is he preaching.
Too me; he is saying that we as Americans are getting further and further away from our constitution that was founded upon Godly, Biblical and moral principles and it is time for us all to come together and stand up for what we really believe, and get back to acknowledging God once again, and not be influenced by a foreign religion or a despotic organization that is destructive to Christianity, But based upon a true Love and not on false pretenses of such. We love and encourage to live, and not hate because they don’t believe the way we do and cut your head off because of it.
If a sinner, a drunkard, or someone you know doesn’t know the Lord except by carnal knowledge, and tells someone about Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection for the remission of their sins and that other person is quickened in his spirit that: what this man is saying is true and he comes to know the Lord because of it, what difference does it make where the information came from?
After-all, didn’t God speak to a prophet one time through the mouth of a donkey? Was the donkey a Christian, or just a medium used of God to warn the prophet?
I’m not sure the correct wording of this, and can’t find it in the Word.
Just heard the story.
Walk in the Spirit.
Joe
Bro. Joe,
if you`re not a preacher, you should consider being one!
What a beautiful presentation. Thank you.
There`s no doubt in my mind, the Holy Spirit had a direct hand in your post.
Grace and Peace.
Dearest Richard,
I want to thank you personally for such a reply to Joe. It gives me great delight to see such a spirit of Holy edification and encouragement. You have made my day brighter, and my life fuller as I read here on this forum. Blessings in Jesus Christ Lord of Lords. Robert

Thank you Richard; I get a little carried away at times.
Though I don’t have the credentials to do so, yet that has always been one of my hearts desires: is to be able to teach and or preach the Word of God; the love of my life.
May God Bless our endeavors as we evolve into His likeness by the application and study of His Word: Amen?
As I am sure you know, what makes a man what he is, is God. If you have the calling to teach and preach He will make a way for you to exercise that gift. As you do here. :)
Psalm 37:4 says "Delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

David,
Trust me. Every time Joe and I get together he teaches and preaches at me. I am sure he is already doing that with a lot of folks. I haven't been feeling well. Joe would tear me apart for allowing sickness in my body. He is a good man.
You asked : "was John a New Creature “born again” as we are? Or a vessel used of God to bring about His purpose?"
I will just point out that John the Baptist was full of the Holy Spirit even while on his mother's womb.
Luke 1
15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.
This is where we see God doing with His creation as His good pleasure decrees. John was filled with the Holy Spirit from birth, does this make God unfair? Of course not, God has authority over his creation.
