Raj,

What a wonderful experience awaits you as you respond to His call. Salvation is available to all those who believe in Him. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Him. As you call out to Him, He will answer you and lead you in the way. Jesus said, you have not chosen me but I have chosen you. You are blessed indeed. Answer His call. It will be the very best thing you have ever done.

God bless you.
Roy
Raj,

Yes, that is exactly right. Jesus said it in John 15, You have not chosen me, I have chosen you. You have been chosen by God to live with Him, and share with Him the love of His Son Jesus Christ for all eternity. :)

Sharon.
Sharon,

We both have responded to Raj. I responded to him in his question about receiving the Holy Spirit on another forum. I directed Raj to the Scripture and specifically to the Book of John. You, on the other hand, directed him to a monk that apparently taught there were more ways to God that just Christianity. I trust that before Merton was murdered that he finally found his way to God through Jesus Christ and through Him alone. Jesus teaches that there is only one way to God and it is not through Zen or any part of it. It is not through meditation or one finding his inner self. Before a person can come to God he must be born again. This is through and only through the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Raj, Jesus is more than a good teacher. Jesus is the only way to God.

Paul, the apostle began his journeys teaching about Christ in Asia Minor (modern day Turkey). He said this to the people of that country:

Ac 13:26-31

26 "Brothers, children of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. 27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. 28 Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people. NIV

The message of salvation is that Jesus was crucified on a tree but rose again on the third day. The Gospel message is that faith can come to anyone, Jew or Gentile, and that all those who turn to Him in faith, will be saved. Paul's custom was to go first to the Jew but found that nearly all rejected the message. Then he would turn to the Gentiles. Many Asian Gentiles turned to Jesus. This is what was spoken about them:

Ac 13:47-48

"'I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.' "

48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. NIV

There is a movement within the Catholic church to become associated with other religions. Merton was part of that movement. This kind of movement would not have been approved by the Apostle Paul who was chosen to bring the Gospel to us Gentiles. I pray you come to know Christ in the way that Paul preached. However, the only way that is possible is to read His writings rather than other men's writings.

The Scripture teaches that Jesus is the only way to God. I strongly encourage you to go that way.

I really trust you are walking on the road to Christ through reading His Word. I recommend you beginning with John and then proceeding to the writings of Paul.

God bless you,
Roy
Sharon,

You know I consider you a sister in Christ. However, I am concerned by your post here. Christianity is not compatible with any other faith, it stands alone on Truth. Buddhism has no foundation in truth. There is an absolute truth, and that absolute truth is Jesus Christ.

Raj, this site AAG does not at all support the teachings of any other faith.
We stand by the teachings of the bible as the only absolute truth, and we will not compromise our beliefs. In this way we are single minded.

Mat 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.

Mat 7:14 "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Jesus says:
Jhn 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Jesus is the only way to God.

Dearest Raj,

Praise the Lord for this 'feeling' you have when you read the Bible! That is called the Holy Spirit!

Jesus Christ is Lord and our Saviour, and Heavens will have a feast because of you the day you say Yes to Jesus! I am certain of that.

Now, let me tell you. Don't be discouraged because you see differences amongst Christians. That does not mean HE is not the Saviour, who redeemed all of us, it only means that we are humans and we don't always know better.

I don't know anything about Buddha. But I would not even go there. As I said, as a Christian, I believe only faith in Jesus can save us and bring us to God the Father.

I encourage you to listen to your friends, that is, if they are trying to lead you to Jesus, and if you ever feel lost, pray to Jesus and simply ask Him:

Lord Jesus, I do not know you, but YOU know me, You know my heart. You know exactly what I need and where I am supposed to be. Please Jesus, I place before you all my desire to come to God, to find Him in Truth. I beseech you Jesus, to let a drop of precious blood of salvation to come into my heart and lead my steps towards the God of all creation. Please Jesus, I ask you to take me by your loving hands and show me how to know you and love you with all my heart.

Raj, do this and mean every word. He will listen to you! And if you ever have any questions, please write. we are here to help!

Love,
Helen
Dear Raj,

Christianity stands out from other beliefs.

All other beliefs are promoting our 'works'.. how we must attain a certain way of being in order to get close to God..or become like God.. or whatever....

Christianity on the other hand is God coming down to us.. For the purpose of Saving us from our sin and Reconciliation to God the Father. Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin, and HE rose again to defeat sin and death, and now THROUGH JESUS we can be reconciled to the Father... The God of Abraham is the only true God.. To many HE is the unknown God.. this is why many religious beliefs are continually trying to seek to find Him and to be 'good enough' for Him to accept you.

The only way you can ever be accepted by God is by trusting in Jesus.. HE is our advocate, and our mediator. 1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

There is no comparison to any other faith. Jesus is not merely a teacher, Jesus is God.

Jhn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jhn 1:2 [fn] He was in the beginning with God.

Jhn 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

Jhn 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

Jhn 1:5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [fn] comprehend it.

The word 'Word' in this scripture is talking about Jesus.

This scripture is talking about Jesus also:

Col 1:13 [fn] For He rescued us from the [fn] domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of [fn] His beloved Son,

Col 1:14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Col 1:15 [fn] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

Col 1:16 For [fn] by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

Col 1:17 He [fn] is before all things, and in Him all things [fn] hold together.

Col 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.

Col 1:19 For [fn] it was the Father's good pleasure for all the [fn] fullness to dwell in Him,

Col 1:20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in [fn] heaven.

Many times people will dislike Christianity because they cannot fathom a God who would take the punishment upon Himself.. people want to do this salvation thing on their own by their own merit.. but it cannot be that way.. God's way has been shown to us, and it is a free gift.

Eph 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

Eph 2:5 even when we were dead [fn] in our transgressions, made us alive together [fn] with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

Eph 2:6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Eph 2:7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [fn] that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

Eph 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

There is nothing you can do to attain a certain 'enlightenment'.. Salvation is a free gift from God to all who believe in His Son JEsus Christ.

Rom 10:9 [fn] that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Rom 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, [fn] resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [fn] resulting in salvation.

Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE [fn] DISAPPOINTED."

Please take the time to read this.. I know it is long.. But this is the most important decision you will ever make.

Blessings, Carla
