Dying without Christ

We all know family and friends who appear to have died without Christ. Is there anything in scripture that says that God gives them one last chance before the moment of death to accept Jesus?

Dear Linda,
TY for your reply. I am gathering any and all opinions on this subject. Your response brings up the question, does God accept "death bed confessions". If a person confesses Christ at the end just to avoid Hell, is that person truly saved. Of course, some confessions will be honest, but others might not. I so much hope this thread grows as I would like to hear what others have to say as well. TY again for your input.

I know your question was addressed to Linda Ruth.. if it's alright I'd like to answer something.

In Luke 23:41-43
Luk 23:41 "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving [fn] what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
Luk 23:42 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come [fn] in Your kingdom!"
Luk 23:43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

Thsi documents the interaction that Jesus had with the Thief on the Cross.. This is the thief's 'death bed confession'.. Jesus accepted him.

We are saved by faith...

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [fn] that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
Eph 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Rom 10:10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
Rom 10:11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed. [fn]"
Rom 10:12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They all have the same Lord, who generously gives his riches to all who ask for them.
Rom 10:13 For "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." [fn]

It comes down to a matter of the heart.. Only God can judge that!
