Exactly,

It is that mysterious force that even defies gravity that the science people can't figure out. They call it dark matter. When will they quit raging and just accept the Word?

When the bible refers to days or a day it means the time something was being done What I know is that the creation days in the Bible do not necessarily mean a 24hour day. Also these days are not all equal.
Stephen,

I am curious how you know this?

Roy
In Genesis, the first six days are crowned with 'and there was morning, and there was evening, the...... day' But as for the seventh day nothing was written. So the day did not end as it is the for previous six days. Then it means it still runs even today. Hebrews 4:8-9 attests to that.
Now, is it possible for a day that is running to be equal in length to a day that has ended?

In Christ
Stephen
Stephen,

Genesis 2:1-2says this:
Gen 2:1 ¶ Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

It was finished.. there is no need for 'And the evening and the morning...' at that point.

The purpose of Genesis 1 is to document the creation of the world.. God finished it...

The special rest (Hebrews 4:8-9) is in Eternity with the Lord..John 14:1-4
Hello Stephen,

I am curious to know how you get uneven days out of Hebrews 4:8-9

Hebrews 4:8-9 (New King James Version)
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

Paul refers to the Sabbath rest here as a continuum for God's people. I don't see anything more than a reference to Genisis 2:2
Genesis 2:2
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.

3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
God gives his people a day of rest. I believe though that it is still a normal 24 hour day.
Some people I know believe that everyday is a Sabbath.

I am interested in your interpretation here.
Blessings
Rod
Stephen,

I am in agreement with the posts of Carla and Rod. However, I know no one wants to team-up. I do believe that God created the heavens and the earth in six days and rested on the seventh. I see no reason to assume a different interpretation regardless of the teachings of Hugh Ross or anyone else.

Ex 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. NIV

Do you interpret this as meaning six period of times? In every other case when He puts a number with a certain number of days, it is referring to 24 hour days. Only when He makes it very clear that it means something other than a 24 hour period could it mean anything else.

I don't think we should assume He doesn't really mean what He says.

Stephen,

It seems to me that the only reason we attempt to put millions and billions of years into Genesis 1 is due to the theories that life evolved of 400 million years or so. However, Stephen, there is not one credible example or explanation of how life evolved. Atheists have no choice but to believe in billions of years. We do have a choice. We do not need billions of years to explain our universe. Our God said He created the heavens and the earth in six days. We have no reason to doubt Him. We do not need to make the Word of God align with any theory (I don't want to call them scientific theories because they are not very scientific at all). No, the Word of God can stand on its own. It doesn't need you or me to interpret it to agree with some theory.

God bless you.
Roy

As referenced, the tomato "seed" the "plant" and the "fruit",
God is not the author of confusion; Man is!
#2.
Could not there be a combination of both, “evolution” and “creation“?
God planted the seed, the rest evolved, Though we are new creations and possess everything that God has provided for us at the new birth, But we grow up into Him which is the head, even Christ. He gives us time to grow up into what He wants us to become, though the tree is in the seed in the ground, but must grow into it’s full potential. So we are not mature Christians at the time of our accepting Him as savior. But we mature as we grow in the knowledge of Him. 2Pet.1:2,3

Also I don’t believe that time at the creation of all things was the same as it is now, because Genesis 1:14-17 (KJV)
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

The seed created and the plant and fruit evolved?
Mark 4:26-30 (KJV)
26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

Not that this scripture applies to the creation, but the principle is the same.

Dif. “Evolved (1. develop gradually: to develop something gradually, often into something more complex or advanced, or undergo such development)

Though God did create the heavens and the earth, but it says that the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, [look up waters in the Strong‘s Conc.]
Genesis 1:2-3 (KJV)
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

My interpretation would be that God impregnated the earth with His Spirit, which was light or “life” and the earth brought forth what God had planted in it. Seeds of all life.
I believe that the darkness was symbolic of death, or void of life, and the light was symbolic of life.

Did not man come from the dust of the earth? Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 1:11-13 (KJV)
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:20-25 (KJV)
20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

2 Peter 3:8 (KJV)
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
So in light of this scripture, could it not have been a 6 thousand year period that He ( God) is talking about to “create” everything in seed form?
Otherwise, things, like grass or trees would have to grow to maturity in one day; bringing forth it‘s own seed!

Just thought it would be something to think about.
Joe
PS. God is certainly well able to create everything in a 6 day period, as we know it.
Who would be foolish enough to think otherwise?
Joe,

Yes, God could have used any method to create the heavens and the earth. And, the most important thing about this all is that we believe that God is our Creator. However, why is it necessary to accept a doctrine of man to explain creation? Evolution is a concoction of a guy that was angry with God for taking his young daughter. Today, virtually every bit of Darwinian evolution has been debunked yet we continue to buy into the theory. We want to think it is correct since we are educating our children to believe in this doctrine that comes straight from the pit of hell. Scripture and evolution cannot reside together.

Joe, where did death come from in your theology. Did it exist before or after Adam? Also, evolution puts man at the very end of the evolutionary cycle. Jesus says he was right there in the beginning. This doesn't leave billions of years for man to evolve.

I know what the implications would be if evolution is the absolute lie that it is. This is what we are teaching our children to believe. Therefore, we have to become caught in Satan's lie. It is in our schools, our movies, our favorite TV series, our magazines, our newspapers; it is everywhere a part of our society. Satan has done an outstanding job dummying us down to the point we will accept something as ludicrous as evolution.

There is no way we could have evolved. Evolution is a teaching that excludes God and contributes the changes to chance. There are some that say that it was God that enabled those cycles to find the change necessary to go to the next level but that means there would have been billions upon multiplied billions of deaths before Adam ever came on the scene and Scripture identifies death, sin and suffering as a result of Adam's sin. How can we just toss that aside?

I agree with you that God is certainly well able to create everything in a 6 day period, as we know it. Since that is what He said He did, I see no reason to discount it as being anything else.

Roy
P.S. I guess my feelings about the teaching of evolution to our children is pretty hard to disguise. I say either we throw it out of the schools or get the teaching of design in there side by side. I prefer the former. Let the people go to some philosophical church or school to learn about Satan's doctrine of evolution. There is enough Pantheism out there without our schools contributing to it. Our kids are going to church and learning there is a God and then going to school and learning life could have evolved without Him. The result is a Star Wars culture.

Your brother,
Roy
