Sure, God does not repent of or change His promises or covenants. Israel is a chosen people. God made special covenants with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel) that in their seed all of the nations of the earth would be blessed. Jesus is that seed. Jesus is the chosen One. If you believe in Jesus, you are an Israelite, whether you are Semitic or not. It's interesting that even Muslim people acknowledge that Christians are descendants of Jacob. They say that Christians are Israelites, that is "of Jacob", through Jesus (whom they call Isa). Saint Paul reminded the gentile Believers that someday, at the End, "All Israel will be Saved." There is debate about exactly what that prophesy means, but there should be no question that Israel is God's special Family and that you are in that Family if you are in Jesus!

Hey Mike,

Yes, I seem to remember that God told Abraham that the covenant is forever. So if the Jews do not believe in Yeshua as the Messiah what role do they play in the covenant?

Talking of Muslims, they claim their ancestry back to Ishmael, who was the first born of Abraham and who's mother was Hagar, Sarah's maid. I remember God saying that He will put brother against brother, and this has been true since the birth of Islam. Also, I believe the Edomites were descended from Esau who was Jacob's twin brother and Edom was in modern day Jordan and Northern Arabia.

Romans 11
The Remnant of Israel
1I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don't you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3"Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me"[a]? 4And what was God's answer to him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal."[b] 5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.[c]
7What then? What Israel sought so earnestly it did not obtain, but the elect did. The others were hardened, 8as it is written:
"God gave them a spirit of stupor,
eyes so that they could not see
and ears so that they could not hear,
to this very day."[d] 9And David says:
"May their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
10May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,
and their backs be bent forever."[e]

Ingrafted Branches
11Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!

Israel remains God's people. They will see Jesus as the messiah through the great tribulation. 144000 from the tribes of Israel will be sealed to preach the Gospel.
