Careful comparisons reveal that all three passages - 1 Thess. 4:16 - 5:3; 2 Thess. 1:7-10; 2:1 - describe the very same day when Jesus Christ comes down from heaven, when His faithful people are gathered together, and when sudden destruction comes upon the lost.

When all three sections are put together, it becomes clear that Jesus is coming with a shout, a voice, a trumpet, with mighty angels, and in flaming fire to catch up true believers and to destroy the lost. Again, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-5:3, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 and 2:1 all describe the same event - the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Clearly, it is at this time His church will be "caught up." Check it out in your Bible.
One Taken, One Left? Will that be the Pre-Trib Rapture or the Second Coming? (2 SEPARATE events)

Jesus Christ said, "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left" (Matthew 24:40).

Countless Christians apply this verse to the "Great Disappearance" when believers will suddenly vanish - leaving their clothes, shoes, necklaces, and wedding rings on earth. Such an interpretation is professionally illustrated in Left Behind: The Movie. In many prophecy books on this subject, unbelieving spouses are described as waking up in the morning only to discover that their believing husbands or wives have been "taken" or raptured to heaven. All who are "left behind" must then endure the "seven years of Tribulation" and the rise of the Antichrist. But they have a "second chance" to be saved.

Is such an interpretation, popular though it may be, really what Jesus meant in Matthew 24:40? Let's look closely at the context to find out.

Matthew 24:27 - Jesus said, "For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

This verse is clearly describing Christ's visible and ultra-glorious SECOND COMING. Few disagree here.

Matthew 24:30, 31 - Jesus continued, "And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels, with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to another."

Once again, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is clearly described. This coming will be literal, visible, loud, and glorious. All the world will see it.

Matthew 24:36 - "But of that day [the day of the Second Coming] and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My father only." once again, the context is the Second Coming.

Matthew 24:37-39 - "But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be, For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Jesus clearly compares His Second Coming with Noah's flood. This flood came suddenly upon the lost "and took them all away."

In other words, they were lost - with no second chances. Christ said, "...so shall the coming of the Son of man be."

Matthew 24:40 - "THEN [capitols added] shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left."

The all-important question is: When is "then"? Does this verse describe the sudden disappearance of millions of Christians BEFORE a seven-year period of tribulation (a/k/a the "rapture"), as is taught in Left Behind? Or is it talking about the salvation of one and the destruction of another at the SECOND COMING of Jesus - at the end of the world? For those willing to closely examine the context, the answer is clear. According to the preceding verses of Matthew 24:27, 30, 31, 36, 37-39, the answer is - "one shall be taken" and "one shall be left" at the visible (vs. 27), audible (vs. 31), glorious (vs. 30) flood-like (verses 37-39) SECOND COMING of Jesus Christ! And just like in Noah's day, when that time finally comes there will be no second chances.
Hi sis,

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free .

ONE TRUTH ONE GOD THE FATHER LORD GOD ALMIGHTY IN HIS HOLY TRINITY MUST HAVE JESUS OR YOU WILL NOT BE SET FREE

MUST ABIDE BY THE WORD OF GOD OR YOU WILL FAIL

For it is the day of the LORD'S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. Isaiah 34:8

You cannot compromise the saving grace of the Lord and you must live in Holiness to live in the House of God and to be citizen of HIS HOLY CITY

Ezekiel 30:3 KJV
For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.

Hmm how do I put this one so that you do not think I am crazy The day has came already and indeed it was a cloudy day for the Heathen to come to known God and be washed and cleansed of the filthy heart

Zephaniah 2:3 KJV
Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.

Remain in Love and Seek Jesus He is your Lord Savior Jesus Christ He/she that lives in him and he in her will live forever seated at the right of God. Be righteous, be meek through Jesus Christ who lives in you. God will not see your sin for you are covered by the blood of Christ and you will be found not guilty as Christ has paid for all of your sins past present and future. BUT YOU MUST LIVE IN THE LIGHT AND NEVER NEGATE WHY JESUS CHRIST and follow HIS commandment or you will be convicted

Matthew 24:30-
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn , and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other .

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Be aware of the Love of God and improve in Faith and trust in God that what is to come and what shall be done must be done for the will of God

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass , till all these things be fulfilled .

This is the generation for the light to shine radiantly and all will come to know HIS name our Lord Savior Jesus Christ

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away , but my words shall not pass away .

God will live forever all who believe will live and those who do not shall pass away

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

God knows and he knows live in Christ to serve HIM truly. I live for the Glory of God to do His will for the Glory of HIs Kingdom on Earth I serve the Lord God Almighty to shine the light of Jesus in me for the power of Gods love to overcome all evil Amen.

37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be .

All who live in Christ will rise and be the light of the world and will come to raise his HOLY Name fearing no evil for God is at their side to protect them from whatever may come their way. Amen .
Thanks be to God.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking , marrying and giving in marriage , until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Yes you once enjoyed life being free but now it is time to serve in sober love and follow your destined call to reign for you have been Chosen at this time to renew your faith and to live again for the Glory of God to bring Glory to HIS Kingdom

39 And knew not until the flood came , and took them all away ; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be .

Wash away all of your sins and repent for you have been sinning yet you did not know Let Jesus Shine in you even brighter during these times. RISE JESUS IN YOU RISE

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken , and the other left .

One in Heaven one on Earth Jesus up and on Earth. Fusion of both worlds in One.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken , and the other left .

Choice either you be the HIS bride or you get left behind

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come .

Be loving at all time repent everyday for you not know of what sins you may have committed focus on Jesus and know you Lord God Almighty for HIS power endures forever. Be on guard and keep the helmet of Salvation on remembering to pray at all times for the enemy is on the prowl
Nonetheless trust God and know that Jesus Christ is there to save you from whatever may come your way. Also know that God is way ahead of you so you have angels in line ready to fight alongside but you must call on Jesus and have all your weapons ready believing in the Power of God.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come , he would have watched , and would not have suffered his house to be broken up .

Be good and know you God be obedient and listen the first time to what you have been told to do do not hesitate when the Holy Spirit leads you into something and test your own spirit to know that is of God for the enemy can be manipulative. God is stronger and Jesus is Savior so call on Him to overcome any evil thoughts or any bad spirit that wishes to enter your mind to your thoughts in to wicked plots against man. Do not fail and remember that the Love of God in you is Stronger than any evil of this world.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh .

Know that he is risen and love always and know GOD and never doubt or become unfaithful to the Lord. Live like the Lord is right before you and know that HIM in you is the Son of man so become HIM and shine for the GLory of God and HIS kingdom do not let an hour waste for enemy must die and then new world shall begin.

All done in one by the power of the Holy Spirit emptied out and serving the Lord recognizing Jesus Christ as my savior and ready to serve the Lord with all loving kindness and to speak the truth that must be told as I am called to do for the will of God and the Glory to His Kingdom

Blessings,

Amen my sister!
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thess, 4:16-18).

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality" (1 Cor. 15:51-53).

The exact timing of the rapture as we all know is not known. The word "rapture" comes from Paul's "caught up" remark in verse 17. The words "caught up" are translated from the Greek word harpazo, which means "to carry off," "snatch up," or "grasp hastily."

Check out the imagery that is being use to this events from the coustoms of a Jewish wedding. It’s beautiful:

From: http://www.raptureready.com

In Luke 12:36, the Word states that when Christ returns, He will be returning from a wedding. In Revelation 19:7-8, we read about the marriage itself. The marriage supper takes place before the marriage. According to Jewish custom, the marriage contract, which often includes a dowry, is drawn up first. The contract parallels the act of faith we use when we trust Jesus to be our Savior. The dowry is His life, which was used to purchase us. When it's time for the wedding, the groom goes to the bride's house unannounced. She comes out to meet him, and then he takes her to his father's house. This precisely correlates with the events according to the pre-trib scenario. Jesus, the Groom, comes down from heaven and calls up the Church, His Bride. After meeting in the air, He and His Bride return to His Father's house, heaven. The marriage supper itself will take place there, while down here on earth the final events of the tribulation will be playing out. After the marriage supper of Jewish tradition, the bride and groom are presented to the world as man and wife. This corresponds to the time when Jesus returns to earth accompanied by an army "clothed in fine linen, white and clean" (Rev 19:14).
And talking about possible future events that may take us out of this world and catch us up to the heavenlies to be with the Lord, we should never neglect the ecstatic hymenal joys which we can experience now. We are called to intimacy with the Lord now. For those who are in Christ and Christ is in them, Heaven is just a scripture passage, a prayer, a song away at every moment. Our Beloved now waits for us at the door of our heart, and he does not want to have a parlor chat with us! He wants intimacy! He wants us to feel His Love flowing through us to the Father and to each other as we open ourselves to His Spirit, and we need not take any remarkable gifts with us to please Him. He wants only the special poverty of soul that each of us posesses. We need only to uncover it to Him and He will cover it with holy kisses. We disclose our wounds to Him and He pours into them Spiced New Wine and Perfumed Fresh Oil. If we have any wound of the soul that He does not heal in this way, it's because He's keeping us small and tender so that we will not want to leave His Embrace. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, that is Rapture to me!
AMEN to that......beautifully worded............however THIS is a Forum and we are supposed to enter our thoughts in forums.
All of this refers to the Second Coming.
I'm talking about here and now. The Veil has been torn open from top to bottom, opening the Holy of Holies!
Yes .....from top to bottom at Christ's death on the cross.....we serve a mighty God.
Marilyn,

You keep saying this and that refers to the Second coming but do not explain, Why. Why?

I can do the same thing to you and it does not mean much if I do not place the verses in context and explain cogently why I believe what I believe.
We're all making this too complicated. There are TWO SEPARATE EVENTS spoken of here in this forum.... (1) the RAPTURE in which one is taken and one is left behind PRIOR to the tribulation. (2) The SECOND COMING OF CHRIST (his "first coming" was in Bethlehem). We agree that the saints will be called up to meet Christ in the air but that is at the Second Coming of Christ. There are no biblical verses that describe a RAPTURE PRIOR TO THE TRIBULATION. All verses in Scripture and here point to the SECOND COMING.
