Since God loves us first, is it possible that the first person we truly fall in love with is Jesus Christ deep within the person? If there is love between two people is God not there? What about the truth that God is love. How do relationships that work for many years, say they are in love, and not even know God?
Great Questions! :)
First one: Does a love at first sight really exist?
I don't believe that love at first sight exists... It is based usually on appearances and feelings--rooted in lust and pride. When we say that we 'love' at first sight, it is usually that we find that persons appearance appealing... pleasing to the eye...it makes us 'feel' good to see them.... since they look so good, and they want to be with me....wow, that means i look good too.
When we hang out with that person a bit, a relationship can begin to develop if we 'feel good' around them. This in truth is not Love. This is based in lust and pride and selfisness .."I feel great around that person..so I am going to continue to hang out with them.. if I stop feeling great...then I'll stop hanging out with them."
Love is a choice.. an action word. It is a verb.
Rom 5:7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though [fn] perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.
Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
When we look at scripture to see what God says about Love.. This is what we read: These words are beautiful truth.. they are like a refreshing drink of the purest water from the mightiest spring.
1Cr 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
1Cr 13:5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
1Cr 13:6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
1Cr 13:7 bears [fn] all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1Cr 13:8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, [fn] they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.
Since God loves us first, is it possible that the first person we truly fall in love with is Jesus Christ deep within the person? Yes.. I believe this to be true if the person is a believer. However, if the person is not a believer.. we choose to love them because God loves them. We know that Jesus died for them. and they matter very very much. We love them because God does.
If there is love between two people is God not there? If there is a selfless love between two people, God is there. God is Love. God is there even if one of the people does not realize it, or give Glory to God because of it. God is the source of all selfless love.
What about the truth that God is love. How do relationships that work for many years, say they are in love, and not even know God?. Wow Girl.. you really keep me on my toes here! I love how you think so deeply about things. :)
This love, by my experience, will only carry so far..divorce is far to common. Even though people may not want to acknowledge that they are created beings...for the purpose of love and fellowship with a Holy God and with each-other...they cannot escape the fact that this is the cry of their hearts. God created that longing in us. People will act on that and seek for that in many ways...a small percentage who don't know the Lord may even survive marriage..and stay in their first marriage their whole lives. They usually have a better chance at success if they have alot of outside Love and Support from friends and family (again... the importance of relationships). Stacey, I know many married couples who are not believers...neither one of them....and the thing that they share with me is that something is missing...I can tell you what is missing, it is intimacy, understanding, wisdom and selflessness. Those people may stay together even while they lack those things because they somehow understand that 'Loving' involves sacrifice...not feelings.
However, let me also say this: All people are created in God's image with the deep desire to love and to be loved.. we thrive in healthy relationships....each one of us desires this with our whole hearts, and we search for this at great lengths. When we finally see Jesus, we are satisfied that we have found love..and we begin to understand what Love truly is.
Blessings sis...

“A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ, that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.” Maya Angelou
Stacey - Is this not love at first sight?
Very charming to behold for sure...but will it really last?
Regarding your question on successful secular love... it's just a cheap imitation of the more perfect version available to Christian couples. Think 'equally yoked'. :)
Last night my six year old told me his bath was too hot...so we filled it up with cooler water until it was just right... then he continued to say it was too warm....and I 'd fill it up again and again...it was becoming a game. Then he told me he was so hot that he needed a drink to cool off...one drink just wouldn't do it in this little game... so I took a cold glass of water and dumped it on his head... hahaha.. He thought that was hilarious! now I think I have to watch my back... he'll likely come at me when hubby and I are about to go out for the night. :)
awwwwww how cute this pix made me smile :) awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww there is also love at first sight when you see a newborn baby coming into this world. :)
Yes! Love at first sight exists, but is shallow and very superficial, much better describe as an instant crush.
True love, mature love, committed love is cultivated.
The mother that carried her unborn baby already loved the baby without seeing him/her, so is not really first love.
When someone meets our unconscious or very much conscious criteria, which is simply a list of traits that should be found in a person if we are to fall in love with him/her, the things we have in common or the things we lack in ourselves makes them become very attractive to us.
We learn to love God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the body of Christ as we mature in our walk. We love God of course when we are born again, but much like we love a person that truly catches our interest at first sight, very superficially.
True love is not just an emotion or feeling is a conscious and unconscious decision enveloped in unbreakable commitment to honor the Love one, regardless of feelings or emotions that come and go.
My thoughts only.
Then again our boy Adam, was like - Dang Eve, you mine girl hahahaha The boy fell in Love instantly.
23 The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman, [k] '
for she was taken out of man."
Sister Linda stop jacking my page hahahaha Just kidding - fair exchange since I grab a couple of your songs from yours hehe :)
Love you at first sight family hahaha no no no - Love you with Godly love.
We see Jesus in that person and love him, then we see what Jesus has made of that person and love that. There is Jesus and there is what Jesus made. All love comes from above. There's just different types of love we have to share. If the person is saved God is always there. People who stay with each other for many years grow close to one another in many ways. They naturally by God feel what they call love. We are naturally made to love, sin just interfers. All good comes from above and God can touch anyones heart whether they know him or not. Relationships depend on certain things. Does that person lust the other or love the other? But, no matter what God is everywhere.
