I have several gay family members. And I try to voice my thoughts about this.I think that it is a sin,that it is wrong and it wasnt part of God's plan for us. Am I wrong?
Where do I find where GOD talks about gays and where he destroyed Sodem and Gamora? I do not know my bible quite well yet, I am still reading and learning.
Thank you,
Chelle
Therefore, "homophobe" = fear of sameness. Sorry, but this is just a ridiculous, nonsense word, a label devised to stimulate hate and bigotry by the very people that are supposedly advocating tolerance. Let's not use it.
But assuming you are inferring that David is advocating that we should be afraid of homosexuals, I don't see anywhere in David's posts indicating that he is afraid of homosexuals or advocating that we should be afraid of homosexuals. Once again you are confusing this issue, Gary. David is addressing whether the Bible considers homosexual behavior sin and whether God, according to the Bible, will punish this behavior. The answers are unequivocally, "Yes" and "Yes".
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Chelle I like your response to a very important question. I know that it is the work of the Holy Spirit in a persons life that can free them from sin and death; 1Corinthians 6:9-11 Paul writes;
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you;
but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
I like it that this sin is listed right along with other sin that we tend to not think as sinful as some one who is a practicing homosexual. Notice that Paul declares the washing, sanctifying, justifying, work of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ that has the ability to set us free from all sin.
This is the message we need to give to those who are caught up in any and all sin; It is in the name of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit that some one is transformed from the inside out.
We do not want to modify peoples behavior and make them think it is only by behaving a certain way that makes them right with God. We want them to know God and then He will break their bonds.
Psalm 107:10-16
10 There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death,
Prisoners in misery and chains,
11 Because they had rebelled against the words of God
And spurned the counsel of the Most High.
12 Therefore He humbled their heart with labor;
They stumbled and there was none to help.
13 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble;
He saved them out of their distresses.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death
And broke their bands apart.
15 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness,
And for His wonders to the sons of men!
16 For He has shattered gates of bronze
And cut bars of iron asunder.
As long as there is love between two human beings then God is there :) Why should it be our concern if someone wants to love someone of the same sex? I believe that woman was made for man, but if we look at our bodies as simply a tent for our souls then what if the soul of a woman was tented in a mans body then what?
God created each one of us for a purpose... The bible does not give any indication at all that God may decide to 'tent' a soul in a male body for example, and then give that person a female's desires or characteristics. It would be a cruel joke.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
If our desire is to stay true to scripture, then your view must be rejected. I understand that this view is being preached in the name of post modernism tolerance...but only 'Truth' endures..that which is God's Word.
God does not make mistakes. When HE creates someone to be Male, He intends for them to be male...Likewise for Females.
1 Corinthians 6:9 (NIV)
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
and goes on to say this:
1Cr 6:10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Cr 6:11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Homosexuality is not the only sin in the world...it is one of many....but it displeases God the same as the others. For anyone to suggest any differently is to reject the message that God has clearly given.
There is a Spiritual War going on the in the world young sis, and we are all in it... It is our duty to fight for Truth. Someone's eternity may be at stake. We are to encourage people overcome their sin...not justify it!
Here's an excellent article to answer this question: "Will God continue to forgive you if you commit the same sin over and over again?"
Yes homosexuality is a sin but that does not mean we have to change people who choose to live such a lifestyle. Pray for their lives to be changed and that is sufficient. God will work through sinners in ways that we cannot. The way to lead people to the truth is to love them with an encouraging spirit, showing the kind of love of Jesus Christ, non judgmental and caring and loving. Actions speak louder than words and the way to judge is not with words but with sight use the beam of light that comes from your eyes to judge. Blessed are the persecuted. God does not tolerate anyone who sins so it is time to change for what is righteous. LORD, God is a forgiving God and he will accept anyone who wishes to transform for the better to bring Glory to GOD. If you live as a homosexual it is not too late to change your life. Honestly, if you are living in truth and you are loving others and are loving God with all your heart mind and soul he will transform you into the person you were destined to be. Be righteous and HOLY. SIN NO MORE. stay kind loving and sweet be good. :) <3
The gospel is foolishness to those that are perishing and EXTREMLY OFFENSIVE to the darkness. I agree shorty that we should show compassion to all inside and outside the house of the LOrd.
Yes Sister you are very much right when you say The Bible says that Homosexuality is a sin . You shouldn't feel bad about standing up for what you know the Bible says . Here are some Bible verses that will help you .
* Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."1
* Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood guiltness is upon them"
* 1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
* Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."
