Did the devil knew Jesus's Purpose on earth? if so why then did try kill him (when he entered Judas to betray Jesus etc..) because if he knew Jesus' came to take away sin from the world then the devil would not want jesus dead.
What about when Jesus was fasting for 40days and the devil led him into wilderness, was he trying to check if Jesus is really the Son of God , God himself?
What i am trying to ask is, did the devil knew Jesus at all??????/
Mat 8:28 When Jesus arrived on the other side of the lake in the land of the Gadarenes, [fn] two men who were possessed by demons met him. They lived in a cemetery and were so dangerous that no one could go through that area.
Mat 8:29 They began screaming at him, "Why are you bothering us, Son of God? You have no right to torture us before God's appointed time!"
Mat 8:30 A large herd of pigs was feeding in the distance,
Mat 8:31 so the demons begged, "If you cast us out, send us into that herd of pigs."
Mat 8:32 "All right, go!" Jesus commanded them. So the demons came out of the men and entered the pigs, and the whole herd plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water.
Jesus has always existed...
1Jo 1:1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life--
1Jo 1:2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us--
satan existed in the beginning....Jesus created him too:
Genesis 3:
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was the shrewdest of all the creatures the LORD God had made. "Really?" he asked the woman. "Did God really say you must not eat any of the fruit in the garden?"
satan was thrown out of heaven when he rebelled...and down to earth:
Isa 14:8 Even the trees of the forest--the cypress trees and the cedars of Lebanon--sing out this joyous song: `Your power is broken! No one will come to cut us down now!'
Isa 14:9 "In the place of the dead [fn] there is excitement over your arrival. World leaders and mighty kings long dead are there to see you.
Isa 14:10 With one voice they all cry out, `Now you are as weak as we are!
Isa 14:11 Your might and power are gone; they were buried with you. All the pleasant music in your palace has ceased. Now maggots are your sheet and worms your blanket.'
Isa 14:12 "How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world.
Isa 14:13 For you said to yourself, `I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God's stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north.
Isa 14:14 I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.'
Isa 14:15 But instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths.
Yes....satan did and does know who Jesus is. The testing in the wilderness was allowed (partly) to show us ( a hard hearted people) that Jesus is without sin and He is the Messiah.
The important thing to know is that God is in control! satan will try to destroy God's plans but he cannot. God is in control....nothing is beyond God's control!
Satan's rebellion serves God's purposes. A book you may want to read is "The Serpent of Paradise" by Erwin W. Lutzer.
Martin Luther said it like this... "The Devil is God's Devil." I'll say it again... God is in control!
.......hope this somehow helps your understanding.....I hope others will answer also.
Blessings, Carla
wow I always thought that satan was the one in control of all the bad things and that god cant control him but when i think about it I suppose God made both good and evil and the evil is there to test our trueness to God.... thankyou for this post very interesting. It makes me feel as though God knows what satan is doing but he is allowing it for some reason, possibly for the greater good
Whenever I begin to feel that God is not in Control I remember the circumstances that lead to the death and resurrection of our Savior...
Matthew chapters 26 to 28
Mark chapters 14 to 16
Luke chapters 22 to 24
From a human perspective ...Jesus was a good man who died unfairly.
From a divine perspective....God came to earth as a man, He humbled Himself.. to take upon the punishment we deserve, so that we may know Him and be saved. He rose again and Lives...He defeated death...and death has lost it's sting to all who believe and trust in Christ as Savior!
God is in control and He has always been in Control!
God's Will be done.....not ours!
Jesus agonized before this suffering took place....Luke 22:39-45
When He prayed an angel appeared to strengthen Him....so that He could accomplish God's Will.
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. (italics mine)
