Does God allow our loved ones to visit us in our dreams? Do God tells us things in our dreams? Do anyone know of any Scriptures in the holy bible/God's word that talks about the significance of dreams?
What is the difference between dreams and visions?
I dreamed my father was going to die before he died. I dreamed of my father after he died, we got to go fishing together. The thing that struck me about the fishing dream was that his eyes looked different. In that dream my father told me that we were going to lose an aunt soon and it came to pass. I believe in the Holy Bible that God told some people things in their dreams. Therefore I believe that God can tell us things in our dreams.
My brother died on Sept 1st 2008, he drowned. The last ten months that I have been grieving over him, I have been having all kind of dreams about him. My most recent dream of him was that he was on a porch of someone's house sweeping off the porch and I was down the street. I was running, in my dream trying to get to him.
I may be wrong, but I like to think that is God's way of letting us know that they are alright. Some people have told me that we dream what we are thinking about.
Should one believe that loved ones who have died are able to come and visit us in our dreams, then that would be dangerously bordering on Spiritism. Stay far away from it. I prefer your last sentence which has a very strong ring of truth in it, namely: "Some people have told me that we dream what we are thinking about."
I personally dream about the Tax collector, cause I worry about him every day. "Hi! Hi!

Do you believe that God tells us things in our dreams? There are some people that dream and their dreams come true... I have even had a experience when I dreamed about something when I was a child, and I had the same dream when I was an adult.
Tell the tax collector to leave you alone *smiles*
I would have to say "yes" that God can and has given dreams to men, take Joseph and Nebuchadnezzer, as examples. But we must be weary about this because we are prone to accept the things that we want to hear.
There is a better way...... The better way is to build up a solid relationship with God and Jesus through the Holy Spirit. It takes a bit of planning on our part, like first setting up definite times through the day (regularly) Use these times to meditate in the Word and then simply talk to God. tell Him what your plans are in regard to the relationship. I can assure you that He is there listening. At first you may be tested to see how sincere you are in building up a one to one relationship. Don't give up, because sooner than you can even hope for, you will (if it's what you really want) start to become aware of the Holy Spirit's presence. "Lo I am with you alway" Mat 28:20. If you persevere then you will find that these times will become extremely precious and you will start to guard them jealously. "For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." 1Co 2:16
I wonder if at this time you can imagine what that means? No one knows the things of God save the Spirit of God. Now it is the Spirit of God Who reveals or opens your mind to the the things which are freely given to us by God. One may well be born again and enlightened to the fact of being "saved", but there is more, much more to it than this. It is for us to take advantage of the
fact that we can have a personal relationship with God throughout the day.
Can this really be? Yes ofcourse. Let me give you an example. If you are born again, you must have noticed that while the Bible can be difficult to understand at times, you are certainly able to
understand it a lot better now. It is beginning to make a lot of sense. This is because, in part you already have the mind of Christ who is the Author of the Bible. It's up to you now to increase and improve that relationship. The Lord Bless you as you seek His face.

Hi Dee Dee, In response to your question of dreams and visions, in Joel 2 : 28 it says that, your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions, when God gives you a dream, it will be that he wants you to do something in particular and when God gives a vision, it usually emplies that something is going to happen in the near future or in His timing, But one has to be very careful, because satan is a good duplicater of things also but when he gives someone a dream or a vision it will usually lead a person astray and won't be no truth in it, on things like this it should be discerned and prayed about before accepting it
I would like to share a few experiences that I and others have had over the years. When receiving anything that we feel may be from God, I feel that we need to test the spirits to make absolutely sure, it really is from God. The word says that Satan comes as an angel of light, (to me, that means he impersonates God, and it is up to us to determine exactly who is speaking to us,) also, it says that he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Now, having said that, I woujld like to share some experiences from myself and others, that may be of importance at some point.
One pastor, received a vision of a motorcycle accident, in front of his restaurant, he didn't think anything of it, and a little bit later, it happened, just as he had been shown, however, it was his own son, and he was killed in the accident. . He got angry with God, and walked out of the pulpit, saying, if that is the kind of God you are, I want nothing to do with you.
A very lengthy period of time, elapsed, and he did not return to his pastorate, nor was he in fellowship with the Lord, during this time, being angry with him for taking his son.
He ended up telling this story to my husband, and he did not know what to say to him, however, he asked him to come by the little country store where I worked to talk with me about this, the man did, and as we talked, I told him, that God had nothing to do with this, because this is not his nature. He comes to give life and that more abundantly, never would he ever, do this to a human being, made in his image.... But... Satan would.
Remember, he impersonates the Living God, and his nature is to steal, kill, and destroy, and this is exactly what he did. The pastor had the authority over this, however, he did not realize what was taking place. As we talked, it became clear to him, that the theif.... had come.. Not our Loving Lord, and he had stolen.... from this man, both his son, and his relationship with God, and had rendered him impotent, for the kingdom.
Before he left, he said he was not the same man that had come in the door, and he was restored in fellowship to his Lord.
It is my belief that anything we receive that is negative, should be prayed about immediately, rebuking it, and applying the blood of Jesus against it, breaking the curse that may very well be trying to manifest itself in the natural. If it truly is God, it will stand the test, however, if it is not God, the theif will be stopped, and not allowed to do his dirty work in our lives and those around us.
It is my belief that Satan speaks word curses thru us, in the form of dreams or visions (and I am in no way saying that every dream or vision is from Satan, I do believe we must determine though)
Very well said Gayla. The LORD is the Creator, satan is the destroyer. "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of GOD:--" 1John 4:1.
I do not believe that we get vsiitations from our loved ones who have passed on. I believe God can give us comfort and assurance regarding them and may even impress upon us something in a dream or what appear to be a vision to us. God does speak to us in many different ways.
I believe that God speaks to us through dreams, but one needs to be careful to not try and think that every dream we have while sleeping is a dream from God with a message. I also believe that God speaks to us at times through visions or insight into a future event. I had an experience several years ago that I will share. I was out working and I sensed the Lord lay upon my heart to call a friend of mine and tell her that she was about to go through a dark and confusing time, but she would be alright. I initially cast the thought off believing it was of my own mind and that my friend would have thought I was crazy. This impression came to me three times. Each time the impression was heavier on my heart. I finally called her and simply told her the basic impression. I told here I do not know what this means or when it will come to pass, but I sense the Lord leading me to tell you that you are about to go through a dark and confusing time, but you will be alright. She said thank you, we hung up and I went back to work not giving it any more thought. This was on a Wednesday. The following Wednesday at 11 PM we got a telephone call from our friend. She was shaken up, but OK. She was in her bedroom changing, getting ready for bed when a giant oak tree let go and fell on her house crushing one bedroom completely (thank God her invalid brother was not home or he would have been killed), the hallway and a bathroom were destroyed as well. While she was changing in her bedroom, when the tree came down, she heard a great noise, the lights went out and the ceiling began to fall down on her. As soon as it started to happen she remembered that she was about to go through a dark and confusing time and that she would be alright. She experienced peace and comfort in the midst of the chaos because she was sure that she was going to be alright, and she was. God has rarely used me this way, but this is one example of God speaking through a vision/impression regarding something coming up.
There are a lot of views between dream and vision. I tend to follow a simple view. Dreams occur when you are sleeping and visions while you are awake. They can relate to past, present or future things as well as disclose truth to you.
My only caution is that we must not assume everyone is of the Lord, for the enemy can imitate the work of God, at least up to a point. We need to test it against Scripture, and test the spirit and do not be afraid to seek assurance as Gideon did with the fleece.
It is funny you should ask this question, because I've been grappling with the same one for more than a year now. My daughter (she is 6 now) frequently tells me she is dreaming about "angels fighting and Jesus telling her to go with Him." I honestly don't know what to make of this! I know that it is said in the Bible (where exactly, eludes me now) that in the last days young people will prophesy and old people will dream dreams. But could this be classified as such?
..If she were my daughter I would be praying for the power of GOD to get rid of this false jesus. There is nothing scriptural about your daughters dream.
..Jesus doesn't ask us to go with him. He ask that we invite him into our heart. Believe He is the Son of GOD. Believe He died for our sins and was raised the third day.
..Were is this jesus going that he would take your daughter and not you also?
..Jesus lives within Christians. Wherever we go he is there with us.
JOEL 2:28
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
..Your daughter is not prophesying, she is being beguiled(deceived) by the evil one, satan.
Your daughter is in my prayers.
Much Love to You & Yours
A Brother In JESUS

Thank you for your reply. I have in fact been praying Jesus' Blood over both my children. Especially my son is experiencing much riddicule at school for openly living out his Faith. He is only 11 and the astounding truth of it is that it is grown-ups that is doing the riddiculing and not, as you might expect, his peers! Problem is, I cannot afford private schools in our area, and the public schools had all but done away with Christian-based schooling for our children. The other option, of course is home-schooling. This is not at the moment an option for us since we need both my husband's and my income to be able to get through the month. All I can do is pray with them every day and educate them in the Word if God as best as I can. (Which I am doing!) I have also been letting him read some of the excellent writings by my fellow-believers here in the Net. As far as my little girl's dreams are concerned: This looks to me asif it is just another attempt from the devil to get a foothold into me and my family's lives. I want to ask for all of you, my brothers and sisters here on the Net, to pray for us. Satan's attacks are appearing to get evermore bolder the closer we get to God.
