We will all stand before the Judgement Seat of the Messiah and all of our works will be judged. Luke 21:34-36. Works that are wood, hay or stubble will burned up and amount to nothing, works that are gold silver or precious stones will be refined by fire and be purified, for these we will receive rewards. Those with rewards in the millennial Kingdom will be given authority to rule and reign with Christ. Those whose works have been burned, if that’s all they have done, will be saved, but they will not receive authority in the Millennial Kingdom and therefore will have nothing to show for their spiritual lives which will last for 1000 years.
Our sins will not be judged, we have been redeemed because we have repented of our sin and believed the gospel.
This judgement will take place after the rapture of the church. The ‘works’ that will be judged are the works that we have done since becoming a believer. We will be judged on how we built on the foundation which has already been laid by Jesus. Have we been faithful in accordance with the Spirit? Have we followed God's Will? Are we obedient to HIM and His teachings? Are we abiding In Him?
This is not a judgement to receive Salvation, we are already saved.
This judgement will not be based on quantity (how many works we did), but QUALITY. We will be judged on whether or not we followed what God’s will was (is) for our lives.
Even though we will not be judged according to sin because we are believers, sin plays an indirect role because if we are disobedient or walking according to the flesh that is sin. The Millennial Kingdom will last for 1000 years, therefore consequences will last for 1000 years.
There are two types of crowns taught in scripture.
There are 5 crowns which are referred to in scripture. The purpose of the crowns is to determine the degree of authority in the Messianic Kingdom. This is not for the Eternal order. In eternity all believers will be equal. In parabolic form this can be found in Luke 19:11-27.
The crowns or rewards we will receive, outlined in scripture are as follows:
There may be more crowns than this, but these are the ones which are outlined in scripture.
Knowing that the quality of our works are more important that quantity, how does this new insight affect your relationship with the Lord?
Knowing that the purpose of the Judgement is ‘Did you follow God’s will for your life?’ how important is it now to be more of a doer of the word rather than only a hearer?
What are the works which are gold, silver and precious stones?
How do we avoid works of wood, hay and stubble?
Jesus is Saviour. Let Him also become Lord.

Hi Carla,
Knowing that the quality of our works are more important that quantity, how does this new insight affect your relationship with the Lord?
I am a firm believer that we are to have works, but as you have mentioned they are not for our salvation. I believe they are meant to show our love for what our Saviour has done for us. I believe the first work all believers are to do, is found in the Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20
"18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen." NKJV
In this passage we find that we are to make disciples of every nation. How does one do that? I have learned that teaching i.e. discipleship new converts is of utmost importance. Once this is accomplished these new disciples are equipped to go into their own communities and make new disciples, thereby making disciples of every nation. A key point is when we as outsiders go to a nation or witnessing to others we need to learn how to speak to those in their own 'heart language.'
Knowing that the purpose of the Judgement is ‘Did you follow God’s will for your life?’ how important is it now to be more of a doer of the word rather than only a hearer?
I think that it is very important to not only be a hearer of the Word but a doer of the Word once one knows it is important. I think the key is asking the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and direct us in how to implement His will in our lives and be able to stick to it. While recognizing that there may be times we don't follow His plans 100% of the time and we may slip and fall at times. The key thing to always remember if this happens is to be quick to repent, knowing that: "9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9, NKJV
What are the works which are gold, silver and precious stones?
I believe the works that are gold, silver, and precious stones are when we do things out of our love for our Saviour without expecting nothing in return. This is difficult at times to do, but I believe this is what we are called to do as Christ followers.
How do we avoid works of wood, hay and stubble?
"3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing," Matthew 6:3, NKJV While I do realize this verse is talking about charitable deeds, I believe that it can be applied to works as well.
As a final thought to this last question, I personally believe that Matthew 6:33 is an excellent way to avoid those works of wood, hay, and stubble.
"33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." NKJV
Thank you so much for posting this and your awesome questions, Dear Sister!
In His love always
