When you face a hard day or a difficult time in your life, what is a verse that helps you pull through and remained focused on Jesus instead of the circumstances?

‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Isaiah 41:10 NASB
I like this one when I'm feeling scared
Psalm 27 NIV
I also quote this one in stressful situations.
Psalm 23 NIV
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing Madison.
"Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Hallelujah!
This one hasn't been a life verse for me.. But it came to my remembrance today so I am sharing it here. It's a good one. :-)
Psalm 37:1 Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
We memorized that verse in school. I went to a small Christian school where we memorized chapters of the Bible. This was one of them. Thanks for sharing.
This is one I've always liked.
Hab 3:17-19
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
So many verses, chapters, and books to uplift us..... I've never depended on just one, I feel that all of the Bible is replete with help, love, hard times, good times, how to live, how to grow....it's amazing.... My favorite flower has always been the daisy, it just looks so happy, but yet it needs rain, sun, and sometimes it has to grow in really difficult areas, but so many things are required for it to grow and yet it does. Everything shows the glory of God....even those hard times, Jesus is THE MAJESTY of ALL and He holds me together along with His written Word and Holy Spirit.
I wish I could give you just one....but so much has nurtured and nourished me in all times. Hebrews 4:12 sums it all up for me.
Yes Amen. I completely understand and agree.
I'll share why Isaiah 41:10 stands out for me as my 'life' verse.
Nine years ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition (severe aortic valve stenosis), which required open heart surgery to repair. It was a late-in-life diagnosis seemingly out of nowhere, Once I was diagnosed I was in for surgery within weeks. Leading up to the surgery anxiety and fear threatened to get the better of me. I was standing in my kitchen crying out to God 'why me?, why do I have to go through this?" I was literally looking frantically around me...distraught and crying really hard and praying this prayer. I was a mess. Tears streaming down my face...eyes red and swollen. My doorbell rang. I was not going to answer the door because I was so upset. The Holy Spirit impressed upon me that I needed to answer the door. So I did. There was a lady standing there, she was delivering church calendars. She could see that I was upset so she spent the time talking to me. I told her that I would be going in for open heart surgery soon and that I was scared. She recited Isaiah 41:10 to me.
"‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’"
It literally calmed me immediately, and I knew God was in the situation and handling it. That was enough for me.
While I was in the hospital I had the opportunity to share the gospel with a nurse who was doubting her faith. I got to tell her about Jesus and boast of His goodness and faithfulness in my life.
There was so much good (other things also) that came out of that one trial...
I asked church calendar lady if she was going door to door, she said 'no'. She usually prays where God wants her to go, and my house was the only one on my street that she felt compelled to ring the doorbell. God is amazing!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will callon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” Jeremiah 29:11-14a
