Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.” And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.” Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

Gee Eric, lol, I've felt the heat of hardness & spiritual snobbery on others part.....including you, my dear friend. That doesn't matter to me, you, JB's, or Seeks replies....I've only responded in part. Isn't that what this is?...A discussion network?
When I'm no longer able to discuss my views, then why ask a question? What is the point?
I haven't given any "straw men" back as replies, I've only given what you all have been given and that is the right to tell the Bible's side of the Truth.
You call it hardness and law clenching on my part....gee, that sounds an awful lot like what Jesus, John, Stephen, Paul, Peter, Barnabus and many of the old testament prophets died for...forgive me for those not mentioned.
You have also made it sound as if because of my belief and the points I've made are thrusting another into nonbelief because of me, I'll not defend myself, because defending myself would only take time away from telling God's Truth.
No one likes the Truth anymore....I'm not being unkind by speaking it. As I've said before, if you do not wish to practice the Sabbath, then don't. Do what you want, isn't that really what people wish to hear?
God says that those who follow His commands are those who love Him. Not just once but over and over and over again.
Not sorry....I have never looked down, sheesh, it's hard for me to look up, I know from wence I came, I know what I am. But I'll not stop delivering God's messages and stop telling the Truth.
"You seem to have been saying/supporting a Saturday worship is the only way. Then you have said do as one wishes . Then you say those who do this are not willing to follow God's commandments.
This shows me that you just don't understand that some people don't feel bound to a Saturday Worship to fulfill the commandment. Based on what they read in Scripture. They and myself included are convinced in ones own mind that they/ I am doing it in a manner that does not conflict with God's word but quite the opposite. "
I only said to do as one wishes, as a response to any command of the LORD, including that of the Sabbath. I was speaking to the effect that you can do as you please, no one is going to force you. Others may not feel "bound" to a 7th day Sabbath according to the 10 Commandments and I'm not going to be the one to persuade them, obviously. Because they don't feel "bound" in no way makes not keeping the Sabbath holy means that it does not conflict with God's Word. If so, please give Scripture that supports the belief.
I've got a lot of friends that don't feel "bound" to anything in God's Word.....that doesn't mean that they serve the LORD. We simply cannot make up our own rules and decisions regarding the Commands of God's. We either do them or we don't. And that is what I mean, the decision is yours, theirs, whoevers, but I'm only going to repeat the Word of the LORD, I'll not force it down anyones throat.
Thanks friend, Again and again, it's not how "we" evaluate the LORD's commands. He does not lower the bar for anyone. It's not up to people to keep the Sabbath how "they" seem fit, that's whats wrong with Christians today, don't you think???
Your message is a message of however I view, interpret, and comprehend the Bible, means its okay if I deviate from His commands because I viewed them differently. I think that is not going to be an acceptable answer to our Savior..... He says in 2 Timothy 2:15--Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
So Sorry.....
And I sincerely don't understand what the great big thing is about the 7th day Sabbath???? I really don't....people claim to practice it on Sunday? While racing home to watch the ballgames, etc., but yet they fight and argue about Saturdays....I find it interesting, to say the least. I find it interesting that the world makes it virtually impossible to celebrate the true Sabbath. Don't you?
Don't you find anything Godly interesting...i.e. such as the rainbow, etc. Everything is becoming less Godly....it's a spiritual war, very few of us left here fighting.
Everything else the 10 Commands say, no one strikes issue with....except the Catholic Church who removed at least 2 of the Commands.
The LORD states: Will I find faith on the earth....???? I'm finding it doubtful.
Jeremiah 6:16 16This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.'
Watchman, my only concern with what you're saying is that you seem to be making it legalistic and therefore condemning. You seem to be saying that a person's salvation depends on it. I think I see your point that obedience to the Lord's commands shows what's in our hearts. In other words, a person who loves the Lord will naturally obey Him. I caution you however, as you seem to be walking a fine line towards legalism.
2 Corinthians 3
Ministers of a New Covenant
1Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you? 2You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
4Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. 5Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, 6who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
7But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, 8how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? 9For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory. 10For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it. 11For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory.
12Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, 13and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away. 14But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. 15But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; 16but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
According to Wiki, Shabbat (Sabbath) is ushered in by lighting candles and reciting a blessing. Traditionally, three festive meals are eaten. The evening meal begins with a blessing called kiddush and another blessing recited over two loaves of challah. Shabbat is closed the following evening with a havdalah blessing. Shabbat is a festive day when Jews exercise their freedom from the regular labors of everyday life. It offers an opportunity to contemplate the spiritual aspects of life and to spend time with family.
Well, this morning I turned on a lamp (candle), went to church (contemplated the spiritual aspects of life...or focused on worshipping God), went to mom's and gathered with my brother and daughter (spent time with family), prayed in a circle holding hands before eating (the blessing), and we had 2 packages of rolls (2 loaves), played cards and talked (freedom from the regular labors of every day life), and I'm at my daughters where we'll have our evening meal.
Well, I guess I'm gonna make it into heaven. ;-)
Some want to do Holy work all day long or as often as they can.
Kinda what our Pastor preached today...feed my sheep. He said it's not a Sunday thing, but Monday, Tues., etc.
...if you do not wish to practice the Sabbath, then don't...God says that those who follow His commands are those who love Him.
This is why Eric said what he did. No one has implied that you don't love God, but that's exactly what you just told us...that since we don't follow the Sabbath the way you do, that we don't love God.
I'm so weary of this conversation, this will be my last response.....promise. I haven't asked you to practice the Sabbath, God did. How do you know how I practice the Sabbath????
I'm frustrated, tired, and weary, but I will continue in my world view. You don't love God if you do not follow His Commands. It's not ab0ut me, never has been...it's about JESUS. The LORD has stated His Word, those who love Me follow my commands. Over amd over and over throughout Scriptire.
Look to Scripture to see how you Love the LORD.
I'm done.
I think we have hashed this discussion out as far as it can go. Thank you to everyone for the replies. This discussion is now closed.
