All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

"Do you know Jesus?" If so ,How do you know you know Him? How do you know He knows you?

What does  "In Jesus" mean?

Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus' chosen ones?

What is true repentance?

These are a few questions I have had for quite some time. Most may have been answered for me but I forget, they dont stay with me.

I hope at least one person finds time to answer these questions for me the best they know how. Thank you in advance. I have many more questions I just cant think right now.

Hi Ribbon, God bless you!

Just take some deep breaths okay? Let the peace of God rule in your heart. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I like to give other people room to answer questions too. That's just me.  Check out John 3:16, which I know you already know. God loves you so much. Jesus died on the cross for you, for me and the rest of us. He's the one who laid down his life so that we could have life. Look at Romans 10:9,10. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. We confess him as Lord and believe God raised him from the dead. I've only touched the surface of it. Have you confessed him as your Lord? Do you believe he was raised from the dead? Have you confessed the Saviour from sin?

Love,

Mary

Hey Mary,

Thank you for commenting. Im not sure why the deep breaths , I am ok . The first question was a question suggested in another forum post. The others were just questions that I had been asked before.  I really cant answer them. Yes I have heard of Jhn 3:16 before. :-)  . I have read so much online and always believed that verse is for every "whosoever" but then later learned that God only chooses whom He pleases. Learned that you cant come to God unless He draws you to HIm. But thats another subject. :-) .  I will respond better to what you wrote later. My daughter is almost here to pick me up. My stomach is turning knowing I will have to step outside and travel .  She is sick and her refriderator went out... I need to help her. I will be back online later. thank you much for your reply. <3

I'm reading through some discussions and saw this. I know it's a bit old, but I had some of the same questions for awhile. And the more I've studied the Word and seen things in context, here is my somewhat simplistic view of this from what I understand.

God so loved "the world"...the whole world...everyone.

He is not willing that ANY should perish but ALL would come to repentance....again, He wants everyone to be saved.

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse....everyone can see His creation. We can then choose to believe this was created by something much greater, someone who gave us the earth and life, or...and this is actually funny when you think about it...we can choose to believe that some random explosion in space created breathing, thinking humans able to procreate; animals of various unique species; oxygen (from a void with no oxygen), a sun to give us light and heat. I could go on, but back to the question.

These tell me that God wants everyone to come to Him, and so much so that Jesus (who is God, a part of God) willingly gave up heaven for a time and died a horrible death as a sacrifice. As none can live without blood, blood is what gives life and a sacrifice of blood is needed to cleanse our lives from unrighteousness. God is righteous and nothing unrighteous can please Him. So because we CAN'T be righteous, Christ had to make us righteous.

So we know God wants EVERYONE, and if we're willing to believe in something greater than a stick of dynamite, He will call us so we can come to Christ. And He can only be pleased by those who believe in Christ, those made righteous.
Those who are chosen believe in Jesus and follow Him and want to. They are concerned about their salvation. They long to understand God's word. They call upon God. They choose God. Yet, they are those who are also chosen by God and have been drawn to Jesus and called by God and have heard the Good News and have believed on Jesus. It takes both things to be one of God's chosen -- God choosing us and us choosing God.
I remember I used to have these questions myself and it was difficult for me to answer them when people asked me. But what I learned from that experience is the fact that, one cannot tell or explain to people about something they themselves do not understand. You know Jesus, you know what He has done for you. Your testimony about Jesus enables you to tell other people about Him.

I've also learned that salvation is not selfish, it has to be shared confidently, shamelessly and fearlessly.
I'm still in the process of getting to that point, by reading, studying and meditating on His word - I'll get there.

"Do you know Jesus?" If so ,How do you know you know Him? How do you know He knows you? - It's one thing to know about Him & another thing to have a relationship with Him. When we know Him, we desire to get to know more about Him, not for knowledge sake but for love's sake. If one is known by God, he doesn't sin 1 John 5:18. That's one way to know. You will recognize it by your priorities. What are they? Do you walk after the flesh or after the Spirit? How do we know? By our personal growth, obedience to His Word, our surrendering to His will. Our assurance is also based on His words.

Acts 16:31 - Believe in the Lord Jesus & you will be saved.

John 1:12 - But to all who did receive Him, who believe in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God.

1 John 5:13 - I write these things to you who believe in the Name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

Ro 10:9 ....because if you confess w/your mouth that Jesus is Lord & believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 10:28-29 - I give them eternal life & they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand.

"In Jesus" - It's to be united & bound in Christ. No more condemnation. He lives inside of you. You are a bride. You're a child of God through faith In Jesus. Being in Christ is being Redeemed, forgiven, no longer a slave to sin, righteous & restored.

This doesn't explain what In Jesus means but it's an interesting fact: Lt. Gordan Klingenschmitt of the US Navy was prosecuted & found guilty in 2006 at a special court-martial for praying In Jesus' Name while in uniform. In 2007, he was discharged.

Who is Jesus? - Christ Son of God

Who is Jesus' chosen ones? - In the OT, it was the people of Israel. It's in reference to God's people as a whole or those of the church. God has called everyone & those who respond are the chosen, also called the elect.

What is true repentance? -Repentance is to turn back from the sinful life & turn to Christ

Hi Janie,

Long time no talk.. I've been thinking about you, and miss you.  Your questions are great questions.

"Do you know Jesus?" If so ,How do you know you know Him? How do you know He knows you?

This makes me think of John 10:27.  “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me”

One of the characteristics of a child of God is someone who can hear His voice.  There are so many distractions and false teachings, but discernment is a big part of hearing the voice of Christ above all other voices.   We follow the voice of Jesus over others.  Thoughts and temptations still come, but we make the choice to listen to and act on God’s voice over all others.  I know Him because I have studied Him, had fellowship around learning about Him thru discussion, and served together with others who know Him.  I know He knows me because I can see His hand in answered prayer.  I know my deep need for Him and surrender to that daily and even moment by moment.  I don't even want to think about what my life would look like without HIM.  I can't fathom that.

What does  "In Jesus" mean?

This means to be safe in Him.  Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, and once we are saved, we are IN Him.  When God the Father looks at us, He sees us with the perfection of Christ.  We are washed clean by the blood of Christ.  This alone is worthy of an indepth study to gain a greater understanding of the ‘power of the blood of Christ’

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is God.  Jesus is Messiah.  Jesus is Saviour and Redeemer.  He is the Alpha and the Omega which means the beginning and the end.  Everything was created by Him and for Him.  He has full authority over all things.

Who is Jesus' chosen ones?

I don’t know.  The best I can tell is that anyone who calls on His name to be saved are His.  A changed life is evidence of it, but everyone grows at a different pace.  Obedience is important…motivation of the heart is foundational.

What is true repentance?

Repentance is a change of heart which results in a change of actions.  It’s a complete turn about in desires.  However, we are still here in the flesh learning how to battle temptations and desires in His strength because that is the only thing that will bring true victory over sin.  We've changed our mind about sin, and now we agree with God and what He says about it.  Basically, if God says it is sin, than it is sin and there are no disputes over that.

Jesus is that who helps us when we need help,,,,,,,,Jesus is that who tells us what is right and what is wrong,,,,,,,,,,jesus is that who is with us anytime,,,,,,,,,we sleep......we rest.......we show our emotions........but jesus don't sleep.......jesus don't rest......and even they don't show their emotions.......because they don't want to make us unhappy.......but they share their happiness with us because it gives us happiness..................So that is Jesus in my view.

  • Do you know Jesus?" If so ,How do you know you know Him? How do you know He knows you? Do you know the beautides?  Following Him and His commands you know Him and He knows you.

What does in Jesus Name?
I'm afraid thats abused in most circles.....but if it is genuinely in Jesus name...????

Who is Jesus?

He is everything!
