All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

John 3:3 " Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God "

Regeneration (Tit. 3:5) or spiritual birth.Without the
new birth one cannot see the kingdom of God, receive
eternal life and salvation through Jesus Christ. The
Following are important facts concerning the new
birth.
(1) Regeneration is a re-creating and transformation
of the person (Rom. 12:2; Eph. 4:23) by God the Holy
Spirit (John 3:6; Tit. 3:5 ), Through this process eternal life
from God Himself is imparted to the believer (John 3:16
2 Pet. 1:4 ; 1 John 5:11) and he becomes a child of God
(John 1:12; Rom. 8:16-17; Gal. 3:26) and a new person
(2 Cor. 5:17; col. 3:9-10) . He no longer conforms to this
world (Rom. 12:2); but is now created after God "in
righteousness and true holiness " (Eph. 4:24).

I found your discussion on regeneration. I know, finally I found it. I'm trying to understand what you're saying about regeneration. Where is that in the Bible? Is it a Bible version? Are you using regeneration to describe both the new birth and the renewing of our minds?

Okay, I know a person gets born again. They receive Holy Spirit. They become children of God. My understanding of the renewed mind is that it's how we walk as God's children. We don't conform to this world, but we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. We renew our minds to what God's Word says which is His will for us. As we do that, it is proof of God's will. I see one as our position or identity. We are children of God. I see the other as how we carry ourselves or behave.

God's love,

Mary

Titus 3:5 KJV says Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost

Matt 19:28 KJV says And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

It is the translation of palingenesia from palin (again) and genesis (birth). It means simply a new birth, a new beginning, a new order.

Thank you! It wasn't sinking in. I'm a little distracted this last week. Sorry about that. I love the translation you gave. It helps a lot.

Isn't the renewed mind transformed, metamorpho? That's like a caterpillar to a butterfly. How is that palingenesia? To me it has similarities, but not the same. Like I said though, MO's distracted recently.

God's love,

Mary

palingenesia is the Greek term used here in both of these verses for the word regeneration.

Matt. 19:28 refers to the coming state of the whole creation, equivalent to the restoration of all things of when the Son of Man will come in His glory.

The washing of regeneration, paliggenesía, Titus 3:5 refers to the spiritual rebirth of the individual soul.

Love both of you sisters
David

The New Testament was written in Greek. The Old is written in Hebrew mostly & a little Aramaic. A Concordance can give you any of this information or you can easily whip it up online as well.

Hi Mary O
I see that you understand the first part
of this aticle just fine. This article really
gets deep as you get farther in to it , also
see what our Lord discusses about regeneration.
In John 3:1-8. The source of this article
in part comes from my FULL LIFE STUDY
BIBLE. Also known now as THE FIRE BIBLE.
I highly recommend this bible and AAG.

Be blessed today
David

I've never heard of that version. Thank you. I'll have to check it out.  :-)  I have some time this evening. I'll check it out better. Can I find that version online?

God's love,
Mary

Hi Mary
Yes you sure can find this online, I hope you
find all the information in this Bible as
Interesting as I do.

God bless

It's not necessarily the translation Mary as a certain type of Bible in the notes underneath it. There are tons of different kinds of study bibles & different versions. For instance, there are many authors that have KJV Study Bibles. One may be a Women's Study Bible. One could be a Men's Study Bible. One could be a Grandma's Study Bible, etc.
