All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Seek & I were talking about whether Satan was over music in heaven. Ezekiel 28:11-19 reads

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God:

“You were the seal of perfection,
Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden, the garden of God;
Every precious stone was your covering:
The sardius, topaz, and diamond,
Beryl, onyx, and jasper,
Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold.
The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes
Was prepared for you on the day you were created.

14 “You were the anointed cherub who covers;
I established you;
You were on the holy mountain of God;
You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.
15 You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created,
Till iniquity was found in you.

16 “By the abundance of your trading
You became filled with violence within,
And you sinned;
Therefore I cast you as a profane thing
Out of the mountain of God;
And I destroyed you, O covering cherub,
From the midst of the fiery stones.

17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty;
You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor;
I cast you to the ground,
I laid you before kings,
That they might gaze at you.

18 “You defiled your sanctuaries
By the multitude of your iniquities,
By the iniquity of your trading;
Therefore I brought fire from your midst;
It devoured you,
And I turned you to ashes upon the earth
In the sight of all who saw you.
19 All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you;
You have become a horror,
And shall be no more forever.”’”

How would you interpret these verses?

yeah, this one is interesting. On the one hand it is addressed to the King of Tyre. On the other hand, it speaks of a person and realm that has nothing to do with mortal men. Most theologians reckon that this is addressed to the King of Tyre because at that time, Satan himself was running the show and that possibly he actually possessed KoT. So, it is actually speaking of Lucifer and his fall (now known as Satan).

What I find interesting is that many times in pop culture you will have artists who seem to "speak for the devil", such as in the popular song from the 60s "Sympathy for the devil". I think that he inspires them to give his side of the story, as it were. Of course, Jesus warns us that the devil is the father of lies, so don't put much stock in his story. LOL.

In this case it definitely seems we're given a little insight to the story behind the scenes, from God's point of view. (which is the only one I care about frankly).

Don't blame me for this!  LOL

I did find one interesting point of view on this (while it's speculation and nothing concrete that he was the head of music), someone on one site I reviewed said it would explain why we have rock and roll.  That when satan fell to earth, his body (which was the musical instrument itself) was damaged and we now have a hideous version of his music.  LOL

I also read a FICTIONAL book called Demon. It was a demon who had presented himself as a man & appeared to a journalist. He wanted the journalist to write his story. One of the first points he said was Satan once lived in Eden which part of this Scripture says. I just found that interesting.
