The good news as shown at the side of each page of this website, doesn't answer this part of the bible...James chapter 2 states "Jas 2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, Jas 2:16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? Jas 2:17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Jas 2:18 But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works

The works of faith always follow faith (Eph. 2:8-10; Hebrews 11). We do these things in response to God and to please Him as a child pleases his father. We do these things because we are saved and not to be saved or to remain saved. If a person proclaims to have faith and yet there is no life transformation (regeneration) that leads to living for God in a manner that seeks to please Him one would have to wonder regarding their own salvation as to whether they are saved at all.
So the question that often arises is not whether we are called to good works, but where does one place the good works in the salvation process. Thus, speaking for this site as the coordinator I can tell you that we believe and proclaim that the Bible teaches salvation is by faith alone and that the faith that leads to salvation will be followed by good works and good fruit, but the good works and good fruit do not precede or add to the salvation, but rather flow from it.

I've heard it being explained that Christ died to pay the penalty for sinners and to give them new life that is free from the bondage of sin and death. Yet, it is apparent that works can become just a different form of bondage (not implying that is the case here, concerning you, as there's not enough information in your post to determine your POV on the topic, other than showing one's faith by one's works, which is the biblical POV). James asks, Can that faith save him? Therefore, the issue really isn't about works, but about faith ... about what kind of faith saves. IMO
