All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Last week my sister went to a Cherokee Indian Pow Wow. I can not explain this in its entirety, but to make a long story short, she went through a ritual of which she thought of me and some problems that I am going through at home. Afterwards, the Indian said to her that the spirits had heard her concerns and had a message for her. He then proceeded to tell her what the spirit told him to tell her to do. He called her by a special nickname that only my Dad called her and no-one else knew and told her that there was big trouble in my home, which of course she and I already knew, but nobody else did,  and then gave her a feather, some incense and some instructions on how to rid my home of evil spirits. She gave them to me with strict instructions on doing this ritual. I am a Christian, is it right to do this, or is it some sort of "witch craft". Please someone who is knowledge please give me some input on this?

God bless you, Denise.

God bless you for not participating in "things" not of God. Your sister is obviously trying to help, BUT......it's not of God.

We will keep praying for your husband. Jesus intervened in Saul's life on the road to Damascus (Acts 9) without any consent from him.

That's our prayer for your husband. Jesus to intercept him on his evil road of life........

In the meantime, your role is to keep your family secure in the Lord.........no outside influences...good for you.

Grace and Peace.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Oh my dear. I find some these coments a little offensive i may be a christian but i am 1/16 Cherokee indian. Just because my people had diffrent belifs it dosnt mean that our rituals are Witchcraft besides i belive in Christ or savior and God our lord but  belive in Mother Earth, Father Sky, Sister nature and Brother Sea. Shouldn't we all just let others belive what they wish and not call anothers belif Witchcraft just because it is not the same as ours?

Melody,

The Word of God (Bible) is the foundation of the Christian faith. The Bible does not support a belief in Mother Earth, Father Sky, Sister Nature or Brother Sea. In fact it speaks against such beliefs. We believe there is only One God who is seen in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

While everyone has been given liberty to believe what they want by God that does not mean that He is Ok with their practices, or that He will overlook it in the end when they come before Him at judgment, nor are we ignore the truth that God does not accept these practices, as well as recognizing that with out a faith in Jesus Christ alone there is no hope for the lost person who is separated from God because of sin. Jesus is the only payment for sin, the only path to new life. This is what the Word of God teaches.

The truths of the Bible are at times offensive because it calls people out of the world (darkness) and into a living relationship with Jesus Christ (the Light). It makes no apology for that, while at the same time God does not force us to come to Him through Jesus Christ, but without doing so the person remains separated from God and faces eternal separation from Him, unless they come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord Bless,

LT

I understand this but you could acctuly say im more pagan then christian. Still i belive The Lord is above all and Sister Nature,Brother Sea,Mother Earth and Fathersky are merely helpers to god. Im sorry if this offends anyone but this is my belif due to my heiritage in the way of the Cherokee. Recently i put down Tyme an Lavender in my home to rid my home of vile spirits then prayed to the lord, so far my home has been free of spirits and before i belived in god i used to do this and it worked so i belive the spirits of Nature are helpers to God.

It doesn't offend us at all. It only offends the Father of Creation who had no help by a brother, sister, mother, etc. We only pray that the truth will be revealed to everyone before it's ever lasting too late as we believe as Christians. Even Satan believes & knows that God is the One & only true God but he still isn't a Christian. Also, thyme lavender is just an incense that makes your home smell beautiful. The demons laugh at it if you're using it to try to rid them. They love the fact that these beliefs are picked up on because they can continue to veil the truths of the True God, the only one God & the great I Am.

Amen

We do allow others to believe as they choose but it doesn't stop us from trying to reveal truths to them because we're concerned for their souls. Indians are beautiful people. I want nothing more then for them to know the full truths. I pray you will be blessed by our site & if we offend, I won't apologize if it's based fully on the word of God. As Christians, that is our responsibility. Thank you for responding.

Again, amen

Melody,

I have Cherokee ancestry, too, but my only identity is as one of God's chosen ones -- for to identify with the earthly customs and rituals of "a people" other than the new creation whom we are in Christ Jesus is idolatry. Once we are accepted into the Beloved, Christ is all and in all. Yet, we are maturing and growing. It is often a very big struggle to die to the old sinful self but God is at work in His children, shaping us into the image of Christ.

"Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:5-17, ESV)

Hi Melody Music, I like your name,

You've had four most excellent responders here explaining the truth to questions queried by Denise, and to your beliefs..........Mary O., Tammy, Amanda, and LT are folks I would want to listen to explaining these thoughts.

I'm sorry You find their comments a little offensive. It seems sometimes when our beliefs are questioned, or maybe shaken,

we as humans are offended.....no matter what the issues are.

And sometimes the truth hurts, when it gets down to the nitty-gritty.

You know, Melody Music, Jesus said that people cannot serve two masters. You mentioned being a combination of pagan and Christian.............. I guess that means sharing your beliefs among the Bible and the world.

James 4:4 says, " You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." (N.A.S.B.).

Think of it this way, dear one........... on one hand, take beautiful Cherokee Tribal music........and on the other hand, take some hot boogie-woogie......put them together.......you can't tap your foot to the mixed time.......and you certainly can't dance to that combination of music. If you try, you will be completely out of sync........just like Jesus and the medicine man.

I'll be praying for you.

Grace and Peace.
