Romans 12: 3 tells Christians to make sober or sound judgment "according to the measure of faith" given them by God. The Greek word μέτρον (metron) translates as "measuring rod" or "measure," according to Strong's and the The NAS Greek Lexicon.
I'm interested in how you interpret this verse; in particular, what does "the measure of faith" mean?
Here are some questions to help launch the discussion.
1) Is faith given in different measures, amounts or levels to different people?
2) How much faith is necessary for salvation?
3) Are we all given the same amount of faith at the time we are born anew?
4) How can we -- and does God -- measure our faith? If so, how?
5) How can we increase our faith?

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)
Hi Colby, God bless you!
IMO, the words "not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think" are important. We each get that measure of faith. We are to think soberly. If God gives us faith by measure, how big is that? I was thinking it's a reminder to not get puffed up. The measure of faith is given to us by God's grace. It's not something we earn or deserve. If God chooses to give faith in different amounts or levels and it's by grace anyway, I just thinking it's up to Him. But, if I need help in that area, I would got to God and ask.
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV)

Sorry about the typos. You all love me anyways.
Mary,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Paul does indeed admonish us to judge ourselves with humility.
Faith, hope and love,

Im glad yu posted this topic. My feeling the lack of faith is what stops me from believing like I should. I look forward to any answers you get.
Blankk,
Thank you. With regard to your concern about a lack of faith, take a look at Hebrews 11:1,6; 12:2 and Romans 10:17.

Thank you, I am interested to read about your topic the measure of faith.
I share your keen interest and I hope others will join in, too. Thanks again.
Just to answer the direct questions you've given;
1) No, I think we all start with the same amount. It will grow in different ways at different rates for different people but the starting amount is the same
2) The smallest of the small seeds
3) See 1
4) I don't think we can, not about other people anyway
5) By exercising it, using it
Graham,
Thank you. With regard to #4, in light of LT's article, "Measurable Degrees of Faith," which Amanda has shared, are you inclined to revise or clarify your answer?
Colby
Thanks, Amanda. LT's article is on point and comprehensively addresses my question.
"Faith is a gift from God. ...
There are degrees or depths of faith. You may envision a thermometer. ...
Faith is measurable. Faith is either growing or shrinking. It is never stagnate. ...
The apostles and other Christians down through the years have exhibited little faith at times and great faith at others. ...
Our faith affects the working of God in our lives. It does not limit His power or authority.
Our degree of faith will affect how we stand up to life’s challenges. "
