An additional thought about Christmas...
It is one of the times of the year when people talk about Jesus more openly... The season itself creates an opportunity to play Christian music without as much tension or animosity... People are more open to it. The other time of year that is like that is Easter....and people also attempt to attach pagan claims to that.
Origins of traditions are so obscure. People will always find pagan roots, but there are also many traditions with Christmas and Easter which do honor God. There really isn't any biblical reason/support to not celebrate Christmas. I personally have gone through feelings where it has not settled well with me.. So I personally tend to make it about family.. Every day is about Jesus--including Christmas.
Yoga has never been associated with Christianity and it shouldn't be. It has always been rooted in Hinduism and mythology.
oh I thought tai chi is some Chinese food
Hi Grace to you , Glory Belongs to God
For the Joy of the lord is your Strength --- Neh 8:10
If you look hard enough, most practices has its roots in ancient religion or mysticism. Hasn't stopped me learning martial arts and never will
so whats ur point do u mean to say all remains on how people look at things .....
I just feel you have to enter into it knowing why it was "invented". I think your freedom in Christ allows you to stretch or whatever it is. I do know that some classes instruct you to empty your minds & that can become a bit dangerous. We need to be careful in everything we enter into.
My Masseuses “massage-therapist” is or was a Yoga instructor, also she claims to be new-age, I asked her what she meditates on while exercising, or doing “Yoga”? she knows I am a Christian and said she meditates of Jesus, asking for His light to come in and bring, or allow peace to saturate her entire being. “Maybe not word for word, but something along that line.” I was really surprised to hear her say that, so I proceeded to talk about the Word of God, but she thinks I’m a little too far out. But she says Yoga is nothing more than an exercise of the body, and mind. Of course one can meditate on anything he/she desires, whether Christian or atheist, it is still only exercising, no more than lifting weights or running, you will be thinking about something. Otherwise you would probably fall asleep.

When we would finish our yoga stretching, we would lay out on our mats and concentrate on slowing our breathing. I always fell asleep. LOL!
As far as emptying my mind, it wouldn't be dangerous for me since it's already empty.
I won't touch that one with a 10' pole. Ummm, yeah I will. ROFL! We'll be empty headed together girl.
