Here is a message on the Will of God entitled "Understanding the Not So Mysterious Will of God" if you are interested in listening. It is just under 35 minutes.

Lord Bless,

Great message bro. I enjoyed it.

Thanks for the encouraging word :-)

Mischelle,

Unfortunately I don't know the fix to the problem. The program is displayed in WindowsMedia.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 2:15

For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.

John 6:40
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

We want more to know what is God's will in our own lives...what does He want us to do.  And we tend to make a big deal of it.  When God provides His will throughout scripture.  To believe in Christ, do good, give thanks to God, etc.  As we go along doing these things, He will reveal His will in our personal lives along the way.

I've wondered about this, too, and I have always believed when a bad thing happens to me, it happens because I deserved it and in fact no matter how bad it is, it is less than what I deserved.

All the suffering and hardships that come to me in my life -- are they not God's will for me? The three Hebrew children in the fiery furnace were in the perfect will of God while in the furnace. Also, Jeremiah in the clay pit was in God's perfect will. Our liberties are permitted by God and are therefore what God allows and yet remains Sovereign because God can override, or overrule, our choices. Jonah is an example. Some of the things we experience might be similar to a "big fish" sent by God.

When Saint Paul was led to his death and Peter and others ... we cannot say their deaths were not in God's will since God permitted them to be killed.

I was abused in childhood and have struggled with how it could have been God's will for me? I don't know.

In God's perfect will we are sometimes required to suffer, like Daniel and Jeremiah, the three Hebrew children and Jesus Himself.

Jesus kept His Father's will and had to suffer and prayed, Let this cup pass from me, and then said, not My will but Thy will be done.

Have you ever been there? Have you ever suffered because of God's will?

When we suffer from our own bad choices, can we call it God's will? It is part of God's will for us to have freedoms to obey or disobey.

It's much to think about.

The word of God touches on the will of God in three main ways:

Sovereign will

Perceptive will

Will of disposition

Learning what these are and understanding which "will" is being referred to in a particular text is key to understanding that text.

God has revealed his will to us in his word. His word has an abundance of his will that is enough to guides us in all things pertaining to God and godliness.

His secret will is none of our business and hence is unknown to us, but again, God has given us plenty of his will in his word. So, yes God reveals his will to us. God's primary will for us is that we are holy.

The following is from My Utmost for His highest:

Destined To Be Holy

We must continually remind ourselves of the purpose of life. We are not destined to happiness, nor to health, but to holiness. Today we have far too many desires and interests, and our lives are being consumed and wasted by them. Many of them may be right, noble, and good, and may later be fulfilled, but in the meantime God must cause their importance to us to decrease. The only thing that truly matters is whether a person will accept the God who will make him holy. At all costs, a person must have the right relationship with God.

Do I believe I need to be holy? Do I believe that God can come into me and make me holy? If through your preaching you convince me that I am unholy, I then resent your preaching. The preaching of the gospel awakens an intense resentment because it is designed to reveal my unholiness, but it also awakens an intense yearning and desire within me. God has only one intended destiny for mankind— holiness. His only goal is to produce saints. God is not some eternal blessing-machine for people to use, and He did not come to save us out of pity— He came to save us because He created us to be holy. Atonement through the Cross of Christ means that God can put me back into perfect oneness with Himself through the death of Jesus Christ, without a trace of anything coming between us any longer.

Never tolerate, because of sympathy for yourself or for others, any practice that is not in keeping with a holy God. Holiness means absolute purity of your walk before God, the words coming from your mouth, and every thought in your mind— placing every detail of your life under the scrutiny of God Himself. Holiness is not simply what God gives me, but what God has given me that is being exhibited in my life.
