Rachelle Starrn was raised in a Christian home & had never been inside a strip club in her life. But she felt this calling from God to reach out to women in the sex industry. She knew that God had given her a passion for those women to know how much He loves them & how precious they were in His eyes. Whatever doubts, she knew God was calling her to take action. He didn't want her to just to feel compassion for them but to do something about it.
In 2008, she started Scarlet Hope, a ministry that reaches out to women involved in the sex industry. They take big, southern-comfort-style dinners to strip clubs. Their prayer is that they're not just feeding their stomachs but they're feeding a deeper spiritual hunger. In some clubs, they fix hair & make-up so they can get some one-on-one time with the girls. It gives them the opportunity to pray with women in the middle of the strip club.
She states that many hearts have been changed & lives touched & many turned to Christ for forgiveness & new beginnings. She says she has seen Jesus show up many times in the back of a strip club dressing room. Many dancers opened up to them, sharing their struggles, asking for prayers, & some have even accepted their invitations to church.
What are your thoughts on this testimony? When I read it I must admit doubts flooded me. I know Jesus goes to the sinners but He didn't put their make-up on before prostituting themselves. Am I wrong with my feelings? No one knows the mind of God but do you really believe God would have them take such drastic steps to reach others?

One thing I often do when I see a strip club is I pray the Lord would burn it down, of course with no one getting hurt.
Amanda,
Awesome. Thank you for sharing what you found out. I was curious since I had not heard of them until this discussion.
Anyone who has ever set out to minister for the Lord has made mistakes. This was not anywhere close to a serious mistake. It certainly does not negate the ministry being accomplished by these very brave women who make me feel as I have never done anything for my Lord. He would not call me into a strip club. I doubt that is a ministry for men. Has he called these ladies into the strip clubs? I think He has. I do think Jesus would comb their hair and help them with the makeup. That would be very improper for me to do. But, Jesus loves these women that belong to Him so much He would allow himself to be stripped and die on a cruel cross for a very unrighteous person such as I. What Jesus seemed to dislike more than anything was for someone who might possibly think they were better than anyone else. When Jesus said our righteousness must surpass that of the Pharisees, He was not speaking of their actions. He was speaking of their hearts. I think these ladies love Jesus very much. I believe their righteousness does surpass that of the Pharisees.
That's my take on the subject. I love you all. You have surpassed the Pharisees who knew more Bible than any of us.
Hi Roy, Good to see you in the forum. I don't agree that Jesus would comb their hair and put on their makeup . How would that bring Him glory? I could see Him combing their hair and washing their face when they humble themselves and fall to His feet for mercy and forgiveness. I don't think any body here think they are better than them. Me ,myself am just confused about all this because I am trying to think what the bible says. When I think of strip clubs I think about not just naked women but a bunch of horn-dogs slobbering all over the place. I think also that its cool these women were called by God to have a heart for these women. My confusment comes to the original question... why have to go inside the place?
Janie, Jesus washed ALL of the disciples' feet, including Judas, who has not humbled himself or fallen to His feet for mercy and forgiveness.
Didn't they come to Him. Weren't they following Him? I still would never ever think Jesus to prepare a sinner to go and sin. I don't know scripture at all but I just cant see Jesus doing this. I am trying to learn though and this is why I participate in the forums. I do remember reading or hearing about Jesus washing their feet. But I bet if they were getting ready to play footsies in a sexual way with someone ... He wouldn't be washing their feet to get them ready for it. LOL I am sorry I am being a punk. Seriously though.... I so wish I had better wording to my thoughts. I just don't. Somewhere here someone mentioned to not be partakers . I looked that up and found it to be scriptural . Do not be partakers of sin. So when I read that he could see Jesus dolling up the women... this scripture came to mind. If Jesus says to not be partakers ... then why would He? I really am so confused about this. I don't feel I am judging either. God knows me.... He knows how I lived my life. I was a heavy drinker........
I will look up the story and reasoning of Jesus washing the disciples
feet.
Seek ye,I don't wear make up because I don't know how to put it on, and I suck at words. I will try to explain what I am saying.. When I say prepare them to sin I guess I mean .. the make up is being put on in preparation of the woman going out to show her body. It isn't being put on to go to work or the local social club. I would never think Jesus would do that. I am not talking about the ladys doing it now I am responding to Roys saying he could see Jesus doing this. Me myself don't give a care who goes in or out these places. It doesn't matter to me. I know Jesus says to come as you are. I know God is love. I believe these Christian ladys have a heart for the ladys who are having a hard time. That's great...... but my feelings still stand. I will try to stay back now.. I don't want to get anyone ticked.
Before I stop posting any replies here. I have a question ... Does the words evil and sin mean the same thing in the bible? I know this is an ignorant question but if I am going to learn I need to ask. thank you in advance for any answers. This question is to help me understand even my own feelings about this forum subject.
Don't worry. I'm not easily ticked. ;-) I'm just finding the discussion interesting.
In my opinion, perhaps doing the makeup and hair was a way for them to get the girls to open up, perhaps, being human, we don't always interpret everything of the Spirit exactly right...we make mistakes. But does the end justify the means? In my opinion, it is a very good ministry and has made progress and been a huge help. So did God send them? In my opinion...yup. God uses the weak and foolish things. So if someone seems foolish to us for helping a girl with her hair and makeup to strike up a conversation, it may not seem so foolish to God. I could very well see Jesus fixing her hair and saying, now go and sin no more, I love you. Then if she chose to still go and sin, at least He shared the gospel with her and reached out. But she may be one of those who hears His message and walks out of the club that night, having given her life to Him and turned away from the old life.
I'm not sure of your question. All I can say is that they do....and they don't mean the same. LOL All sin is evil. All sin is fleshly, brought on by satan (the author of evil). Yet in some contexts, evil is one who intends on evil, one who is purely evil, who gets joy and pleasure from sinning and being evil. Some sin simply out of a lack of control, not meaning to, not intending to be evil. I know...that likely confused things. LOL
