All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

The condition of my online friendships has been bothering me for a long time.  They tend to run as Blessings and Curses, Cures and Blessings.  They don't stay in my life long...  In the past I would work my tail off trying to figure out similarities (things we have in common) so that we could have good conversations.  I always figured that a friendship will either grow or die out.  Mine almost always barely get started and then die.  Usually they die abruptly, sometimes they last a few emails and then die.  Resulting in the person just disappearing on me.  Even people to whom I have saved with about this issue of mine say they won't just disappear and then they do.  This has happened so often to me that I have a hard time letting online people get close to me.  There was a time when I couldn't wait to get home from work and get online to try and nurture a new online friendship, but now when I get home I just feel really tired, and put on a DVD or something.  The curses I have come across is, I haven't found nearly as much righteousness as I have encountered sinful conversations.  And that is not just secular sites, that is surprising from many other Social Christian Sites I have tried.  My prayer request is that God will Help me break this trend.

Praying

I have the same feeling Greg.  Can't talk to anyone and than just look forward to seeing messages from online friends.  Than when I don't get any, I feel so disappointed and feel miserable.  Sometimes the friendship just dies off after awhile.  I assume my online friends are too busy with their life or they just don't know what to say to me anymore...so many thoughts in my head.

Just take one day at a time...being positive is so difficult, but give it a go and it camouflages the negative views we have.  Life is all about keeping on trying till we  gain the victory.

Friends come and go...but some remain and that's the best.

God watches over everyone, and I will keep you in my prayer... we all go through this feeling, we are blessed we are not alone...

Greg, could it be perhaps God is trying to push you out into the world instead of into the online world so much?  I've felt those nudges.  It doesn't mean I want to give up on the friendships I've developed here, but I have been limiting my online time a lot lately due to these feelings, spending more time out with people in real life.  I've been walking with a co-worker each morning rather than being here.

Well something I'm learning is change takes time and perseverance, so hang in there and things will improve.

PRAYING for you, Gregory.

Dear Gregory,

Please accept a long range cyberspace Christian hug from a brother who loves you.

Now, in your post, you sound like the apostle Paul.........not all bad....

Let me share some excerpts from Oswald Chamber's "My Utmost For His Highest":

"His (Jesus) life was an absolute failure from every standpoint except God's. But what to be failure from man's standpoint was a triumph from God's standpoint, because God's purpose is never the same as man's purpose."

And-

A Christian is someone who trusts in the knowledge and the wisdom of God, not in his own abilities. If we have a purpose of our own, it destroys the simplicity and the calm, relaxed pace which should be characteristic of the children of God."

Almighty God,

We lift up our brother, Gregory, that You might comfort him in his walk with You.

Help him to realize, Father, that his focus is on you.......not on human beings.....we all need Christian friendship in Your Kingdom.....and it comes....without strain or pain. Help us all to march, in step to the tempo of Jesus' ministry, that we might bring You glory and honor through His Name.

Amen.
