It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels. 1 Corinthians 11:10
What is your take on this? I've read every commentary made but still can't find a good enough answer that satisfies me. Can you help me make sense of it?

Holy angels love God, they love to serve him and I am sure they dislike or at the very least can't understand why we (humans) are so hard headed and rebellious against a beautiful and HOLY-HOLY-HOLY God, hence the scripture admonishes women in this case not to offended them by being disobedient to a cultural custom of the time, which signified God's order for his creation. Man is over women in authority and the head wear denoted that fact. For the women of God not to align to that is offensive to holy angels.
Calvin says this:
It is asked, whether he speaks of married women exclusively, for there are some that restrict to them what Paul here teaches, on the ground that it does not belong to virgins to be under the authority of a husband. It is however a mistake, for Paul looks beyond this -- to God's eternal law, which has made the female sex subject to the authority of men.
Because of the angels This passage is explained in various ways. As the Prophet Malachi 2:7 calls priests angels of God, some are of opinion that Paul speaks of them; but the ministers of the word have nowhere that term applied to them by itself -- that is, without something being added; and the meaning would be too forced. I understand it, therefore, in its proper signification. But it is asked, why it is that he would have women have their heads covered because of the angels -- for what has this to do with them? Some answer: "Because they are present on occasion of the prayers of believers, and on this account are spectators of unseemliness, should there be any on such occasions." But what need is there for philosophizing with such refinement? We know that angels are in attendance, also, upon Christ as their head, and minister to him. [633] When, therefore, women venture upon such liberties, as to usurp for themselves the token of authority, they make their baseness manifest to the angels. This, therefore, was said by way of amplifying, as if he had said, "If women uncover their heads, not only Christ, but all the angels too, will be witnesses of the outrage." And this interpretation suits well with the Apostle's design. He is treating here of different ranks. Now he says that, when women assume a higher place than becomes them, they gain this by it -- that they discover their impudence in the view of the angels of heaven.
This last chapter, could you please explain it like you was talking to a 4-year old?
haha you know how to crack me up sis haha hey, the first paragraph above was my shot at that. That was me not Calvin, but let me give it another shot here.
When I see a child of God not obeying God and boldly disobeying him, it hurts me, it saddens me, for I know they are incurring correction upon themselves, giving a bad testimony of the body of Christ and that they are disobeying my Lord and Savior.
I think the angels feel the same way in their own way. They feel sad when we disobey God’s commands. For women not to be submissive to men, who God has placed as their heads and in this case not acknowledging that, by ignoring the head wear, makes the angels sad.
DV, I am wondering , when you mention "Calvin says" , who are you talking about? Is he your new imagination friend? Do you just have a new voice in your head named Calvin? No, seriously though , are you talking about the Calvin of Calvinism?
hahaha - why are you guys picking on me? Is it pick on David day hahaha or rather is it pick on David decade? hahaha J/K
Well Calvin has been my imaginary friend from my childhood till now, hahaha naw naw J/K Yeap - I am talking about the very loved Calvin of Calvinism. He is my hommie. :) hahaha
I think he is one of the great theologians in the history of the Church outside the bible, along with RC Sproul, John McCarthur, Jonathan Edwards, Spurgeon, Knox, Luther, Augustine, Tozer, Pink. Those are some of my faves. Their literature is poetry to me.
Oh ok... I didn't know Pink was a theologian though. I thought she just sang.
She multy tasks hahaha
Girl- haha that was funny.
