All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

They ripped to shreds the Body of Jesus. No bones were broken, yet His Flesh was torn apart. For us to truly be all we can and must be for God. Do we take this example, and submit; die to our flesh? Is this the best way to become Born Again?

After Our Lord went through all He did, what happened?  He was Resurrected.  Is this the path we must take.  To humble our flesh; to die to self.  Jesus always said, "Not My will but, His!"  As we wonder why so many things happen, are we avoiding the very things that will truly bring us to the place God wants us to be.  The old man passes away.    Is this why, He wants us to be broken, or humbled?  Are we to show the world and one another, what a Born Again Child of God truly looks like?

Chris, I know you already know these things so I'm only seeking to remind you because you've had to deal with a lot all at once and it's easy to lose focus. What Jesus went through had nothing to do with dying to the flesh. Jesus didn't have a sin nature. What Jesus was enduring was God's wrath. Because Jesus endured these things, it means you will never have to drink from the cup which Jesus prayed that if it be possible the Father would let pass from Him. Jesus willingly chose to die for us. His death was necessary. Yet, He chose to die.

The tragedies and challenges we go through in life as Christians are the things that Jesus told us we would experience. They are not the wrath of God upon us. They do leave us broken but not to punish us. It's part of the sanctification process. It's very important to be assured that one has been born again. We are told to examine ourselves to make sure we are truly in the faith. But being born again doesn't mean pain and distress and anguish will never be felt again.

Many of the psalms show the expression of sorrow and confusion of those who faced difficult trials. Such things can even cause a person to feel disconnected from God. In the psalms it also shows how those same people reconnected with God. So take heart.

Part of being born again is realizing what Jesus suffered on our behalf and seeing Him as the Savior who died for our many sins. It's hating that sin and hating what it cost the Lord as He atoned for it. To be born again one must see their sin and have godly sorrow and see who Jesus really is. Also true is the fact that living in a fallen world in fallen flesh with imperfect people who do sinful things can leave us broken and may be what God uses to help someone see their need for a Savior.

Though Jesus didn't need to die to self, I think this is a great example. I've never thought of it in this manner. Thanks brother

We need to be broken because ...

... the unsaved self-righteous need to know that they are not alright. Many do not think that they are all that bad and really need a Savior because God is going to weigh our good deeds against our bad deeds. A broken person recognizes their GREAT NEED.

... pride in the believer gets in the way and blocks God from working through the person's life. We must come to a point in our lives where we can truly cry out ... "Not my will, but your will be done."

Amen. My mind has changed regarding all of the things that have happened to me and to ones I love as I've realized that I was very legalistic in my beliefs and was always trying to stay in God's good grace and earn God's favor and I found myself doing things not out of love for God and for others but out of duty. The Spirit confirms to me that I was born again at a young age because at that time I did understand who Jesus is and I saw my sin and felt convicted and had sorrow that brought me to the repentance that leads to salvation. But a few years later I got on a wrong path and was accepting the teachings that salvation must be maintained through my own efforts. There is pride in it when we take credit for any part of it. I don't want to be that way anymore. For many years after I was born again, I believed these teachings and I also entered a period of rebellion in my mid twenties because I felt I could never stay saved. I came out of that rebellion but returned to the same beliefs. God didn't want to leave me there. So the trials I've had the past four years although not caused by God have been used by God for my good. This is now part of my testimony.

Excellent .... PTL!!!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We must be broken for God to fix us

I want to thank all of you for sharing.  Thank you also Amanda, for your kind words they do help. All that has been shared is true.  After some time today and pondering what and why I posted this question.  The Kindness of The Spirit has shown me a few things to add.  I already know you all know, we are unable to earn what is given to us.  We cannot earn Heaven by our actions.  One of the things I have seen is, the things of the flesh are weights that only do us harm. They weighs us down, they add so much unnecessary things we should not spend our time with.

And I can now see how what I posted was in haste.  I put the cart ahead of the horse, after we are Born Again we will only then die to our flesh.  Also, forgive me for implying Jesus dies to His Flesh, I only meant it as our example.  How when we resist what God's Love is leading us to do, dying to our flesh feels like.  Sin and the things of the flesh are just weights and our time is so short.  I trust what I have shared make sense.  Again thanks for sharing, the heart grows heavy at times when it feels like we are unable to share what we are feeling.

I think it made perfectly good sense. Thank you for posting this.

Bless you my Kind Sister.  I do have to recant something however, Jesus did have to die to His Flesh, He just did with Perfection.  Not that He had sin, just that He was human as well as Spirit.  He had to face what we do, for He shows us how.
