All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

To come to that place of obedience and of humility to the Lord, takes several things. One is desire. But, how does a person arrive to a place, that their desire is to be obedient and humble, to and before the Lord?

I would like to add a few thoughts to this.  I have known a few stone masons in my days.  As we have already shared brick work and stone work are very different indeed.  The foundation is important, also the corner stone.  A straight line is called "true."  From this let us take these thoughts.  Jesus is the Corner Stone, from Him we are able to gauge Truth or True.  Each stone helps the others, size is not all that important.  It is there placement which give character and or beauty to the structure.  As in our case, "Living Stone," we help one another by supporting the load.  In our case this comes from the Spirit of the Lord.  Giving us the ability to share, or support one another.  As in His Holy Temple, we are placed again off the bearings of Jesus the Corner Stone.  What we must do is to be obedient and humble as to fulfill our purpose.  We are All in this together, for each other, All to His Glory.

Servant (Chris), I am looking forward to learning and growing in my relationship to Christ. I have been reading the word, praying and writing in my journal. I Believe the word, know it it is true. I have reading, praying about great messages.  I have seeking the Lord, possible the strongest desire, I've ever done before.  I desire the Holy Spirit guidance and direction. I want to do God's will.  I've been spending more quiet time as I listen for God's word. I want to hear God's voice like never before. I am struggling with the facts of reading/praying/believe, but have a hard time living it out. I am submitting, yeild, surrendering my life, but don't seem to hear God's voice.  I welcome your Godly wisdom. Thanks!

Michael

As we read The Word, we hear His Voice.  As we yield like you have shared, as we Pray and read The Word.  We do these and many other things, because The Spirit is leading us to do so.  Many times we may not think we hear, but we do.  The Spirit leads us in things that bring Glory to Jesus.  Even our desire to seek and serve The Lord, comes from the Spirit.  For me it is that "still small Voice" that I hear.  Yet, I do not base what I believe on any thing that I "hear."  I base what I Believe on The Word with Faith.  For it will always be with Faith that we please The Father.  It sounds like from what I read here that, you are on the right path.  Continue to operate in Faith by what you read in The Word.  We all at times have difficulties "living it out," as you have shared.   I have learned that often in these times, we actually learn and grow stronger.  For ours is a Belief in the unseen.  For us what is not seen and for many not heard, is more Real than what we can see or hear.  To know what The Spirit says, is to know The Spirit of The Word. I trust this helps some.  Let me know if I can help you more.  I may not reply right away, at this time.  Yet, Lord willing I will be back very soon.

Chris,

I pray that our Lord will be with you and that you will be back very soon.

Blessings.

Roy

Thank you Roy and as well with you my Brother.  I will be back so very soon.  That we may share and learn of The Lord together, as we have in the past.

Chris,

I appreciate you sharing your Godly wisdom. I do believe, that the #1 way God speaks to us is through His word. I believe I have learned that God speaks to us through Godly counsel (like yourself) See Proverbs 15:22-Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. God speaks Open or closed doors. Have you heard of these concepts? I am with you on "The Word" as far as believing and faith to know it is true. I trust that the word is God himself. John 1-(1-2) In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God...  I am seeking the Holy Spirit gudiance and direction. I don't mean actually see visablly or hear audibly, but rather the "still small voice" you are talking about. I am seeking God's will for my life at this time for specific direction. I teach physical education and coach football for a school about an hour away. This past season I was so exhausted, I could barely function at the end of the season. I told our head coach, I could not do this (way)anymore. I'm pray for God to show me if I should:

1. Look for a job closer to home

2. Sell our house, move toward the school 1/2 (my wife teaches at a school currently 4 miles from our house)

3. Stay at our current house and stay over at friends house by school more often. I also need to organize the football plan a different way (not do as much)and also delegate more.

* I have also been praying for a ministry opportunity.

It is my hearts desire to do what God wants me to do! (not my will).  I want to speak to me and tell me the path to take. I want to hear it, obey it, and trust it, even if I don't understand. Let me know what believe regarding this situation. I welcome Godly wisdom. God has used you in my life already!

Michael

I will continue to Pray that His Wisdom guide you.  In many ways by what you have shared here, that He speaks to us not only through The Word but in other ways.  By knowing this, it makes so many things easier to accept.  To believe He wants us to know His Will for us, is a obstacle many have trouble ever overcoming.  I believe He will use this desire, to make His Plan for you and yours clear.  Lord Bless you my Brother.  With ears to hear, and eyes to see, and a humble heart and will, so by what you do Jesus is Glorified.

The stone [Jesus] that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.  Through Christ, our lives are sustained in God's grace-filled love.  God's love of us through Christ is the cornerstone of life.

How can we live in Jesus' love and realize his foundational nature in our lives?  Paul gives us the answer in his beautiful letter to the Philippians,

“Finally beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, set your hearts and minds on these things. Keep on doing the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Yield,  submit, surrender your life to Him. I have found that you can not just surrender 1x. In fact, I have to do it everyday and sometimes through out the day. I am also seeking to obey. I think we have to trust Jesus, listen to the Holy Spirit through reading the word, pray, and seeking Godly wisdom. Being humble allows God to work in your life. Desire is been a main theme in my life. I think sometimes I try so hard. God does not want that-human effort will not work. He wants to bless you, and develop your obedience. He does it... not you. Let God have reign in you life. His Desires will become your desires. By trusting and obeying Him you are honoring and glorifying Him. He is in control.  The Holy Spirit will give you guidance and direction. Proverbs 3:5-6
