ASPECTS OF BACKSLIDING

Hi Char,

We start in a backslidden condition when we first start out (or so I thought.) We refuse to go where God wants us and do what He tells us. We come to him, but there are things we reserve for ourselves. I do believe many of us are in a backslidden condition. However, I am willing to concede that you are right and I used the wrong terminology. I guess what I want to say was there was something I was holding back from God. It no longer exists. Yes, I would love a cigarette. No, I am not going to smoke it. God took the time to show me so that I could understand that I was wrong. I won't throw it back at Him. No more than I would start drinking after God cleaned me up from alcohol and did it immediately and completely.

At any rate , I see where you are coming from.

Thank God, Rita, that you've heard the voice of God and have stopped smoking.  You've been through a terrible and trying ordeal.  

I pray that, in the name of Lord Jesus, our Father in Heaven will give you the strength needed to continue in refraining from the use tobacco products and for your fast and complete recovery from all of the things that ail you, especially with respect to your heart and lungs.  Amen.

 

Backsliding, for me is doing something that we know we shouldn't do, God speaks against it, and yet we persistently and  consistently, do exactly what God asks us not to do.

• A friend of mine said something similar.  He said that backsliding is when we have a confession of faith, but we aren't living according to our faith.

Thank you, Colby, for your prayer and well wishes. God understands that I have learned my lesson. His blessings are pouring out all over me....blessings that I only just started deserving(if I EVEN DESERVE THEM, WHICH  I PROBABLY DON'T!) Because of all that has happened, I am sure that His hand is on me every second of the day. (MY CAT HELPED ME TYPE THIS PART!)

If only I could explain the healing that is going on in my body, without medical assistance, but it is too awesome to be believed. God is healing me as we speak and His healing will be completed.

I have no intention of throwing this *gift* back in His face. God is in the process of teaching me some awesome things right now, and with my cessation of smoking, the blessings keep on rolling in. God is truly an Awesome God! In ten days, I can hold my breath for as long or longer than my non smoking children. That is awesome! That is healing in progress!

Yours is a touching and vivid story and witness to God's restorative healing and grace-filled love at work.  God's hope, healing, mercy, love and grace -- provided right where it's needed, in the hearts of real people.  Real people like you and me.  These gifts of God sustain us at the hard edges of the human condition.  They make it possible for us to go on knowing that we have eternal life in Christ who saved us.

what if I stumble fall loose my step would the love continue at all, when the walk becomes a crawel.
