How to Meditate on the Bible?

Hello brother Jay,

 

Our relationship with God is a personal one and according to his good pleasure towards us. He will deal with each one of his kids according to their independent and individual relationship. The truth doesn't change and his truth or ways spoken to a child of God will never contradict God's word, but how God reveals himself to us is personal.

 

In other words, it is good that you want to experience God in all the ways God reveals/manifests himself to his people, but do understand that He does not deal with everyone the same. Again his truth is the same for all the church throughout history, yet his treatment to the church is on an individual basis. If you want to experience God through visions etc... Simply ask him to reveal himself to you in such manners, but don't be surprised if He doesn't, He may have something else/different, but yet scriptural, on his dealings with you.

 

God's plan for your life is in every page of the bible. The more you know the bible the more your mind is renewed and conformed to God's image, which is the real purpose of all our lives, to be Christ like.

 

You meditate on it by pondering throughout your day one what you read that day. You think/analyze and correlate God's word. The Spirit will lead you to all truth if you simply asked for wisdom and understanding.

 

Remenber - scripture interprets scripture.

Not everyone has visions. The Word doesn't promise that God will speak to us through visions. But it does promise that God wants to have a relationship with us. If you are unsure what God's voice sounds like, you can ask Him to teach you what it sounds like.

I can only relate my experiences. It took me a while to figure out what God's voice sounds like. I do have these quick flashes that I think are visions or I'll hear a person's voice calling for help. It happens when there's something I need to do to help myself or someone else. When my daughter was in the hospital, in the middle of the night I heard her cry out to me. Gary (husband) and I prayed for her. We were praying for her before we got the call she was in the emergency room. Sometimes I will just know.

I think it has to do with praying for people, there's a connection. And I think it has to do with God knowing He can trust you to say something or do something about it. I have learned to trust and believe what He is showing me. The most recent flash or vision was Gary falling down the stairway. I saw it in a brief moment, the railing came loose and he went down the stairs face first. Sure enough, I had to say something to him so he wouldn't fall.
