All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

A little levity - When the Supreme Court kicked God our of our schools, maybe we all should have got up and left with Him. We didn't and ever since we have been guilty of giving our children a godless education. Could that have anything to do with what we are seeing today?

Char,

My heart goes out to you...  You remind me of my Mom....and I say that with the greatest respect.

My Mom raised four of us of a single parent salary...and also had to deal with the realization that her husband had molested three of the children (my brother was just a baby).

...just a note to the part you wrote about 'picketing'..  Is that what Christians are supposed to be doing?  I don't think so.  We're supposed to stand for seek Justice, Love Mercy and walk humbly with God.  I don't think or see that picketing accomplishes any of that...  It just comes across as a bunch of Christians complaining (again)...  "...those religious freaks are at it again"...  There is too much for non-believers to dispute when we act like that.  BUT-When we respond in love--serving, not judging, being compassionate etc....

I think that people forget that God's laws were not meant to be laws for the morality of all humanity--in the way that even non-believers are to obey them.  God's Laws are for God's people.  We are to stand out as different.

My kids are in public school, and I'm glad they are.  They are often a light in a dark place... it may be the only light of Jesus some people get to see.  Both of them go to school with many muslim children, hindu children...and other beliefs as well.  Jesus wants us to tell people about Him --to the ends of the earth.  My goodness--The ends of the earth is right in my own back yard.  I realize that not all places in the world are as multi-cultural as Toronto is.

So--my answer to this question is..  No--we shouldn't leave the schools.  Why?  Because God hasn't left the schools either-- WE are His hands and feet in the schools.

Blessings, Carla

I don't know that we can effectively fight the laws on abortion or homosexual marriage.  I truly believe that all battles are won at the point of trusting relationships.  I think it's far more effective to reach out to these people in love...make some friends...hang out with them...let them know they are loved.  Let them know they have infinite value and worth.  The government can make all the laws they want...but if people are convicted to live out of the love God has for them, I think there would naturally be far less abortions etc...  Many people don't really know who they are or where they have come from.  If they don't know, it's our job to EARN THE RIGHT to tell them.  We earn that right by taking the time to build a close relationship with them...so that they trust them.  Are we as Christians willing to spend the time and energy to do this?  It sure doesn't look like it.  However, if we did---Then we could really sing the song..."They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love---Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love".  I don't think that includes picketing.  Picketing only gives the message of self-righteousness, judgement and condemnation.

I truly believe that we can change things.  One person at a time if that's what it takes.  We're not going to change the whole world, but we can have an impact in the lives of the people in the world around us.

Don't forget...that even in Christian schools there are still humans....they have all the same shortcomings and faults that people in the public schools have.  The difference is that your son (as he grows and matures) will shine in contrast to them as he lives for Jesus...  That's bound to get some good attention.

Our work here is not hopeless nor is it useless (i know you didn't say that)..  I just want to encourage you (and others--and myself) to persevere to fight the good fight, and to not give up on doing good.

The Lord is presently teaching me to live for an audience of ONE...  He tells me that once I accomplish that I will not get discouraged or ever feel like it is hopeless.  I'm moving in that direction>>>  living only to please Jesus...everything else comes after that.

Bless you, Carla

Yes..  I agree.

:-)

Why do we think that this God has ceased to exist?

Am 4:4-13

4 "Go to Bethel and sin;go to Gilgal and sin yet more.Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years.  5 Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings — boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do,"declares the Sovereign Lord.
6 "I gave you empty stomachs  in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me," declares the Lord.
7 "I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain;another had none and dried up. 8 People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink, yet you have not returned to me,"      declares the Lord.
9 "Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, I struck them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me,"declares the Lord.
10 "I sent plagues among you as I did to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps, yet you have not returned to me,"  declares the Lord.
11 "I overthrew some of you as I  overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me," declares the Lord.
12 "Therefore this is what I will do to you,  Israel, and because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel."
13 He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth — the Lord God Almighty is his name. NIV

This God is not dead. He does all these things and more. He has not changed. There are those who have found grace from God but not all have. We need to pray for our president. I never thought I would see the day that a person that endorsed homosexual marriage could be elected but here we are. This is a mockery of God's Word. I do not think God takes this lightly. God has not been attending our schools and learning the lessons on tolerance. You see He was kicked out of school.

Yet there are those who have found God's wonderful grace. They should not fear. God will bring them close to Him regardless of what He does. He will hear and listen to their prayers.

Ps 7:12-13

12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. KJV

May your families be blessed this Thanksgiving. In Jesus name.

Many many people don't want to see God in the OT at all. Seeing God as grace alone helps them justify their lifestyle by convincing themselves He no longer judges.  They only speak of His love love love. His love is most def important but His righteousness won't allow Him to overlook sin.

Taminator,

Why do you think, we think: God has overlooked sin?

All we have to do is to look at scripture to see that He has never over looked sin.

In fact in Jo.16:7-11, that it was expedient for us that He goes away: because if He does not go away, or go back to the Father; the comforter cannot nor will not come to us. But if He does go: He will send Him “the comforter” back to dwell in us. But when “He” the comforter comes, it will be as if it were Jesus Christ Himself coming back to dwell in us. In other words, we are to be as Jesus was while on earth. “For as He is so are we on this earth” We will be doing the same works as He did, and greater works, according to Jo.14:12; plus the comforter which is the Holy Spirit will through us: reprove the world of sin, and righteousness, and of judgment, how and why? Because when Jesus died on the cross, and rose again, He defeated satan, He paid the price for our transgressions, therefore making way for our redemption, and is no longer imputing our trespasses against us. 2Cor.5:19, See, that judgment now is resident within us. This is why we no longer have to ask God if certain things are permissible or not, we know by the anointing of the Holy Spirit that dwells in us. We are the temple of God, Christ dwells in us. The risen Christ is present with us to make those judgments. So see? He doesn’t or hasn't over look sin; He defeated it and gave that judgment to Christ who lives in us to guide us into all righteousness. So sin itself has already been dealt with, and has already been judged, He says, “the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. Ro.6:23. Unless we repent, we will give an account for them at the judgment seat of Christ at the end. We do suffer the consequences of our lack of judgments here on earth, when we make judgments based on our intellect or “lust” Rather than the anointing of the Holy Spirit.  [remember Nov.6,2012]
We are at this time “one with Him” But he that is joined unto the Lord is ONE SPIRIT, 1Cor.6:17. “a singular one to the exclusion of another.” Jo.17:11, Jo.17:22, and Ro.12:5, says,” So we being many, are one body in Christ, and everyone members one of another”.

So when we sin, we are going against the convictions of our hearts, and where does this conviction come from? Christ in us, He is doing the work. So Jesus says in Jo.5:30. We can only make righteous judgments as we hear from the Holy Spirit in us. Compare Ro.8:27, and Acts.1:24, where they didn’t know which of the two, Joseph or Matthias, was to be one of them to replace Judas, so they asked God to show them, and when they prayed, they cast their lots “votes” it fell on Matthias. (Grace in action)

We must learn and know who we are “in Christ”, and who “Christ” is in us. “Christ” being an epithet of Jesus should be our epithet as well.

Blessings,

JB

You TOTALLY misread my reply. I said folks today love to overlook God as being a God of justice. It helps them to justify their own sins if they just see Him as a God of all love. I actually didn't read the rest of your reply except the first sentence because you read my reply absolutely opposite of what I was saying.

I think I'll help you here.

Many many people don't WANT to see God in the OT at all - God in the OT was a righteous God of judgement.

Seeing God as grace ALONE helps them justify their lifestyle by convincing themselves He no longer judges. - This is referring to the previous statement of the many many people.

They only speak of His love love love. His love is most def important but HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS WON'T ALLOW HIM TO OVERLOOK SIN

Hope this helps you understand my earlier reply.

Why don't you read the rest of my reply and see if it doesn't address your statement,

“but HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS WON'T ALLOW HIM TO OVERLOOK SIN”

What I am saying is; He “God” is not overlooking sin, He didn’t overlook sin.

He is not judging us on a sin to sin bases today; sin was already judged. In other words, He is not judging you (us) just because we sinned today; judgment was passed on that sin before we even committed it.

So no! I didn’t misread, nor misunderstand what you are saying, maybe it will become clearer IF you read the rest of my reply.

So God overlooks sin? Even as children of God, He cannot overlook our wrong doings. I agree He is in me but I'm in there as well & I fight that flesh every day. Maybe someday, I'll be as close to perfection as yourself but until that day, I still war against the flesh. I disagree but that's nothing new. I can't think of anything that we agree on. Isn't that funny how the same Spirit in me is in you but we don't agree on anything? Shows that God has a sense of humor I suppose.

So God overlooks sin? Where did I say that? I actually said just the opposite Even as children of God, He cannot overlook our wrong doings.  I don’t mean to be as condescending as you are in the following sentence; but maybe you are reading through the bible and haven’t gotten to Ro.4:8 yet.  I agree He is in me but I'm in there as well & I fight that flesh every day. Maybe someday, I'll be as close to perfection as yourself  LOL I’ll just take that as a compliment and go on from here.  but until that day, I still war against the flesh. I disagree but that's nothing new. This I have noticed. I can't think of anything that we agree on. Isn't that funny how the same Spirit in me is in you but we don't agree on anything? With an attitude such as this, I’m very doubtful that the spirit is the same.. Shows that God has a sense of humor I suppose This is one thing we agree on.

Blessings to you and have a great evening.

JB

So, what Spirit do we not share? I would never insinuate that you were an unsaved person. I know in my Spirit that you are. For you to say that about me is very much uncalled for. My flesh wants to totally chop this to pieces but the Spirit that is in me says that accomplishes nothing. Maybe I am reaching perfection after all. Thanks for the help. Blessings to you as well
