All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

What a shock it could be, and what to do with it, as for many days I have been told of God to read 1 Peter chapter 2, I am now beginning to do so and see the urgancy of it not only that but the application of the fact that what God sais of us is truth and we are to follow and live by it, this chapter even the first few sentances are coming at me like huge boulders and I know I need to get these facts firm in my head and heart and for all of us to see ourself as this chapter makes known asap .

Your input on this chapter will be appreciated.  bless U all  chris

2 Peter made me think of these verses from the Book of Acts. Paul was talking to the elders (the leaders of the Church of Ephesus.) Savage wolves were to even come from their own ranks. They were to keep watch over themselves and the flock. I think Paul's admonishment is timely even today. We are to stay watchful, stay awake spiritually. We don't mentally check out or snooze.

Check out Acts 20:13-36  This is v.28-31

28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God,[a] which he bought with his own blood.[b] 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31 So be on your guard!...

For the life of me, I don't know why I thought of Acts 20, but when I read 2 Peter, Acts 20 came to mind. Maybe I need to think on it.?? Does that happen to you. Someone will mention a place in the word or teach about it, and sometimes a flood of verses come to mind.

I just love the stones in His Holy building part. Consider that we are High Priests and stones in His Holy building. And think about the bricks or stones. What is the mortar that holds the bricks together. Is it Holy Spirit or is it the Word of God or both? What happens if we don't have a good foundation and good mortar? I began to think about Ephesians 2:19-22.

19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Love and God bless,

Mary

Hi C.+A.,

It is a powerful passage of Scripture, and like Char says - "covers a lot of ground".

Seems to me, that during our sanctification period (which could last for years) Galatians 5:16 & 17 are consantly in play, "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.(17) For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please."

Jesus brings it into a daily prospective: Luke 9:23, "And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."

He is saying to deny things of the world, and to crucify our daily sins, which are our encumbrances.......and we know, guys, crucifxion is a slow death......and sometimes these old sins of ours die........s-l-o-w-l-y.

Thank you for an interesting post, Christine.

Grace and Peace.
