How does a person go to church when...

What do those who have trouble around crowds do (say those with autism) if they want to have fellowship but a church seems like too much with so many people?

How can a person function at church properly when it's really difficult to function when there's alot of people together?

For me, I'm just not into the hugs part. I don't mind shaking hands. I prefer to be comforted by words. I think my avoiding the body contact puts people off and makes them think I am cold and distant but it makes me uncomfortable. It even keeps me from talking to those whom I think will try to hug me. I might like to talk to them but would rather avoid the physical contact. I am often seen as having a stuck up attitude because of this. But on my part it is coming from being umcomfortable and not from being rude or disrespectful.

50 or 60?o_o I miss how small my old church was...they didn't have that many people. 50 or 60...that's alot of people...

Amanda, have you tried telling them it makes you feel uncomfortable? If you're in like a church setting they should respect and not judge you as a sister in Christ. They should respect your wishes and just shake hands. :)

Carla, I think it may have been you that said there's like a discussion on one of those things/podcasts. Is it like AAG, a forum? Are you on it? I'm more comfortable when there's somebody I know there.
