All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

We are losing the power of words and their deeper understanding. In many circles today we are being told to stop using some terms that have been associated with Christianity that help define our understanding regarding Biblical truth. The argument that is offered is that these terms turn people off, or that they do not understand them. (For clarity, when I said “power” we are not talking life changing power, that is Jesus’ work. I am talking the power to communicate effectively and clearly).

If they do not understand these words, then teach them the depth of the meaning of the term. If it turns them off, then they are rejecting the truths regarding Jesus and His work in our life. When will we stop trying to reinvent the wheel?

I wonder? If we walk like the world, talk like the world, think like the world and act like the world are we not of the world? Are we not called to be different? Some will say that I do not need to know these words. If you want to walk in your Christian faith, you may not need to know the word (though I think you should) you better understand what they mean. These relate to the basic principles of life in Christ.

Here are some of the words I refer to. Take a minute and look at the list and see if you know what they mean, or have you been missing the beauty found in these terms:

Repentance
Justification
Regeneration
Salvation
Sanctification
The Blood of Christ (Not listed in all dictionary)
Sin
Judgment
Discipline (see Chastisement)
Redemption
Substitutionary Sacrifice (Not listed in all dictionary)
Righteousness
Holiness
Incarnation
Apocalypse

There are other words, but this is a quick list I came up with. I purposely did not define them here. Find a good Bible dictionary and research them and be blessed by what you learn if you are unfamiliar with these terms. And, oh yeah, don’t skip over the Scripture verses that the Bible dictionary will use to substantiate what they mean. Go to God’s Word and see what the Bible says regarding these issues. Jewels discovered are better than the ones handed to you on a platter.

Comments are welcomed. If you research it, share what you learn. If you agree with me regarding give a Hoo Rah. If you don't agree, explain why.

Lord Bless,
LT

Hi LT,
Thank you for the idea, given to me while reading your mail. Discovering and learning the definitions of theological terms will be a GREAT Bible study for our group, in fact all our Church Members.
Excellent mail LT.
Blessings.
Ron.
I am going to work on getting the answers posted here. We did a shorter version with less terms in my bible study but I Love that this is much more indepth. If anyone thinks of more terms to add..that would be great. It may take me a week to post my answers, I am just posting my promise here to hold myself accountable.

Blessings, Carla
I will be looking forward to your post.

Lord Bless,

I agree that God's Word has been watered down. These modern Bible versions are really paraphrased bibles. Multiple choice bibles that can mean almost anything you want. Those who dislike the KJV claim its hard to read and understand. But these modern bible versions (NIV, NASB, etc) are re-translations of the polluted Latin Text. Its everyman's bible that a cultist can find "evidence" for his own unqiue doctrines.
Craig,

From what source have you been taught that these two that you listed specifically are re-translations from a polluted Latin text? Both proclaim to go back to the Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. I am interested in your source regarding this.

Thanks,
LT
Hey! C'mon guys,

"The King James was good enough for St Paul, it is surely good enough for me."
Ron,

Thou sayest he knoweth best?

Hi Brother Craig

What is your perspective of being "watered down," know that every word that comes from the Holy Spirit is of God and is important.

The least of what people can do for those who believe in Christ is encourage one another out of love rather than being judgmental on the paraphrasing.

Every small word serves a purpose. If everything were broken down and if every word were to be explained where would growth occur or the experience in it with Christ. It would not be fair to break everything down for someone or to give the each and every word that relates to it.

I understand your concern for keeping the word alive in its original state but not every person understands that language or that discourse or that word. You have to speak in ways that captivates the person. For you a simple word might seem to have lost its essence but to someone else it is a blast of power to them from God.

Allow people to dive deeper to grow in Christ and love them in their growth not critique them....but if you wish to critique then approach the person in privacy or up front and be honest of who you speak of so that it is not painful to read...now you may very well not be speaking to one person specifically but when you say that a living translation that is of God is "watered down" then do know that you are increasing the chances of discouraging a person from letting the Holy Spirit to come out and translate. Be aware that you are putting yourself at risk of telling God what to do and how to do things. He chooses how a person shall work for him in faith and he tells them how to do it.

Basically be careful and tender with all of the words that you use for you never know if it is God himself who is trying to teach someone who is tentative to a very good lesson that can be learned.

Your definition of watered down may mean well but do still be as kind as possible I do understand it is a concern for true cultivation of a word but be light.

Thank you for adding the specialty of unique doctrines its good to hear...very good for enlightenment.

With all this said in loving kindness I pray that you learn to be more loving and observing of what the Holy Spirit does through people not that I doubt that you have a kind spirit but to listen carefully to what is in each word you will be able to gain much insight. Amen.

God bless you Craig nothing but love :) <3

Lots of love in Christ,
your lil sis Stacey A.
I like what you are trying to do,to raise awareness,in an otherwise,(worldy society)and @ the same time; we must understand that everyone is endowed with different gifts from God,(prophecy,tongues,healing,trevailing,visions(understanding/discernment),wisdom etc;some are given more than one gift) Not all use all of their gifts-(some don't know how, some do.) All are @ different levels of understanding & abilities. Isn't it up to us to reach out to, when needed to chastise in a constructive way & overall help others to find their path to the Father? Sometimes I think we try to over-analyze what God intended to be available to all. (He did die for all/(many) I myself, asked for & received multiple gifts, (specifically one gift I asked for was to be able to speak in the easiest way possible to communicate to others(to break it down to almost an elementary way so everyone has a chance to hear & know of Gods goodness;(Free will is another ballgame...) I have more thoughts; another time perhaps. I thank you for such a lively discussion,it makes one ponder...God Bless
Sis what you speak of is full of wisdom

good to hear someone is aware of the capabilities of the Holy Spirit in its many ways.

When you let the Holy Spirit take full control you need not rely on self to answer and it is up to your own obedience and discipline with God to know how to understand the message or the living translations.

For example when I type essentially its a gift of translating tongues so only some will be able to understand and decipher what I am trying to talk about others will not and think that I speak of nonsense when in fact God has yet to reveal the truth that I speak of when I respond to others.

I hope that this will give insight as to keep a loving heart to trust that the Christ living in each person is being taught by the Holy Spirit and each person must focus on their own maturity level to grow in Christ.

Everyone has a teachable Spirit and it is how faithful you are and trustworthy and capable you are with handling your gifts that they maybe granted unto you.

Do know tho that with many gifts the more must be done for the will of God and you must serve faithfully being steadfast to each call and ready to approach things with integrity with the word of God at hand

Though living translations may be summed to less words the meaning deep within deep and that is for you to explore in depth with Jesus Christ living in you essentially its practicing in obedience and faith in Christ when you try to dive into understanding the word with God

It is very crucial to follow carefully and know when to speak and know when to edify and know when to keep silent basically rely on Jesus to do it all and sing for the Holy Spirit to enter you and then you will blaze and set forth with the truth of God if God allows you to though

God will know if you are faithful enough to handle the gifts as many have not handled them righteously. It takes great practice and lessons learned after failing yet succeeding in a failure I hope that makes sense

To put it simpler put your trust in HIM and allow the Holy Spirit to flow in and out of you to do the will of God through works of faith not of your own but of HIM who lives in you.

People will try to judge you but you concentrate on God and no one else and you never let anyone hurt you just keep pushing forth with all of Gods weapons on knowing that God will not leave you when you speak the truth against anyone or with friends to sharpen there sword. Amen

Lots of love to you in Christ,
Stacey A.

may you be bless with the gifts that you ask of just be aware that you will have much to do for the will of God that is why I tell people less is more for in less there is great power but in more you put limit after limit in each word or lesson that you teach.

Wisdom is knowing what to do when to do and how to do in the least amount of effort yet with much power within. Wisdom is the knowing before someone else even knows of what may come so you give a warning watching as they experience what you warned about before it even happened. Being wise takes experience Amen.

In loving kindness your sis
Stacey A. :) <3
read my response 1-2-3 but ask the HOly Spirit for your own def to understand what it all means to you personally k

Love you sis
Brother LT can I challenge you here?

Can you define each word in your own way by the power of the Holy Spirit? Then can you go back into the word of God and find a verse that matches each one. After can you post it here?

If not then tis good I am working on it I hope that we can gain some insight from you as I live in the presence of my generation and you of yours in the years of your living :) <3

You have great wisdom and it would be awesome to hear of what you have to say about such things kk

Lots of Love
Stacey A.
